FC for $250 in Arizona?
Posted by: azdave ()
Date: June 19, 2020 05:12AM

Someone going to jump on this? It's on the local Craigslist and being sold by occasional forum member, markaksamit, about an hour north of Phoenix. Got to be some good sections there that can be used to save another FC.

I would definitely buy it if it weren't so far away, seems all the good stuff is always on the other side of the country.

Keep in mind that a South West body will cost less to have shipped than having to do extensive winter body rust repair.

I can see why its only $250. Someone already bought it for parts....most of it is gone!

What are you talking about, azdave, using it to save another FC?

It looks worth saving.

On the East Coast we'd call that body pristine condition.

We were at Mark and Lori's a couple of weeks ago and I thought this body was worth saving. Yes, many parts have been removed but this van is VERY rust free. It had some body work done on the left side behind the front door but seemed like no other places. It also is a pretty early 61- around vin 6100 as I recall.

Yes, but not many people appreciate the value of a low-rust chassis until after they've spent thousands patching up their own swiss cheese. Just the way it goes some times...thought someone here might not notice it this one so trying to pass along the info.

Definitely worth saving . . . . . IF you live in a state that is friendly towards replacing a lost title/sold on bill of sale.

Time to get into that "parts replaced" discussion again that requires no title transfer. Not!eye popping smiley

All I will say is just changing the data and VIN plates is illegal in all states AFAIK.

I thank you, Dave for the heads up. I'm not in the market right now, but if I was....smileys with beer

Quite right Frank.
I hope no one misunderstood my comment.
I was in NO WAY advocating sub-legal behavior.
Simply meant that some states are much more cooperative with getting titles to cars with lost titles than others.
It would be a shame to see a van in that good of shape simply chopped-up for parts. sad smiley

Quite right. No title needed here at all in Georgia on older vehicles. Can not even get a title made unless you have a previous title to transfer. We use bill of sale have vin checked by local PD and register it.

It's too old to have had a title in NY. I brought my untitled 66 from NY, never registered by me, and had no problem bringing into MD who issued it a new title. I did have the NY "transferable registration" for it.

I have to admit I have been thinking about it as it is only 6 hours from me. Of course that started when it was at 250.
