() Date: May 26, 2020 08:35AM Anyone out there running Scarebird adapters and GM metric calipers on the front of their LM? I was curious what you might be using for front brake hoses? TIA, Cheers, Dave Dave, Kamloops, B.C. '65 Crown V8, 2017 Mazda CX3 Re: Scarebird disc brake hose Posted by:

() Date: May 26, 2020 09:14AM I used heavy duty GM truck hoses approximately 25” with banjo fitting on one end and 3/8” inverted flare on other. I also reversed the setup so the calipers were mounted to the rear, leading to a much gentler curve of the hoses. I will add the p/n in a few when I get to OReillys. P.S.works great. () Date: May 29, 2020 08:14AM The part number from O'Reilly's is BH38166. It is an O'R # but other stores can cross reference. It allowed me to put the calipers on the rear of the spindle and have a very gentle sweep to the brake hose. Followed the curve of the speedo cable and duplicated it on the right side. Needed different banjo bolts because the length of the bolt did not tighten enough on the copper washers and had a very slight leak under extreme pressure tests. Will take photos next week if anyone asks. Re: Scarebird disc brake hose Posted by:

() Date: June 02, 2020 09:06PM I will add - I like braided hoses from southwest speed. They have hoses with a banjo fitting in various lengths and adaptors from a -4AN to 7/16-24 inverted flare for the steel lines. Just got a set in today for the scarebird disk setup I am putting on my '66 currently. [www.southwestspeed.com] [www.southwestspeed.com] Re: Scarebird disc brake hose Posted by:

() Date: July 10, 2020 02:47PM I think scarebird gives the application hoses you should buy, whatever they noted I bought and they worked. The problem I DO have is the rotors they suggested are a little too large circumference-wise, and when they heat up they interfere with the banjo bolts and scrape. Anyone else have this issue? () Date: July 10, 2020 03:29PM I just looked at fresh set of rebuilt metric calipers I have on the shelf. I see the indent for the fitting. I would assume you can round out the end of that hose to fit. Last set I just did I used southwest speeds slight overbore calipers. Banjo fitting sits flush on the edge. () Date: July 10, 2020 04:40PM looks like I have same problem with the banjo ends and used their part number for the 17" lines. No way they work with caliper to the rear, need to be at least 5-6 inches longer. Had some problem on my other conversion but used braded line on that one. Think I user a 18 in line on it and still had to mount the caliper to the fount. Even the photo on their web site shows them to the front but directions say to the rear. ![]() rich Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum. |
