Okay, my bad!
If I had a 20 year old Daughter, I would hope that she never considered me "Strict".
BUT, at the same time, I WOULD discourage her from road tripping across the country by herself.

Timothy is correct.
You should not have any problem registering a Classic, or an Antique in any state.
The only issue about being able to drive it would normally be, IF you register it AS a "Classic" or it is registered AS an "Antique".
Most states that I am aware of will give you a reduced annual fee, or a ONE TIME ONLY fee when you register your car as a Classic, or an Antique.
BUT there is a side effect of using that "cost saving measure".
When you register your car as Classic or Antique, most states will limit your driving of the vehicle to only going to Car Club meetings, Car Shows, Parades, and taking it to the repair shop.
I just register my cars as regular use vehicles, and drive them when ever I want.
Yes, it may cost a bit more, but I don't have to LIE about it either.

Either way keep looking and one that fit you will find you!! It's kinda strange how these cars have a way of finding owners. We are here to help.

I'm sure every state is different. Call someone in the local club and ask them or start a thread with your state antique rules as a topic. I'm sure you will find someone here that can answer those questions better than a person that is trying to sell you a car.

That is AWESOME ! ! !
It would still be beneficial if you could get a knowledgeable Corvair person to meet up with you and your Father, to help inspect the car, when that time comes.

Not yet but I’m planning on contacting someone in whatever state the car I go to see is in just so they won’t have to travel too far.

I have family in DC, but they can careless about Corvairs.
I am sure there is some Corvair person nearby.
Unfortunately, I do not know who they are.
It is over 2350 miles from my driveway to the Whitehouse according to google maps.
I am sorry I can't help you.

That’s fine I appreciate it anyway. I’m gonna look for someone though, the guy said he wanted to sell it for $7,000 but he may bring it down to $6,500 since i have $6,100 currently. I dunno if that’s a good or bad thing but I suppose we’ll see.

Of course they want to sell at $7000 But it may not be worth $2500 in today's market...prices /sales have fallen lately. I just used $4k off the top of my head..

We still have no idea what Model Corvair you are looking at! Some models sell for more and others less.

A few are RARE most are not!

Read this list of ALL Corvairs that HAVE SOLD in the last 6 months

True, & the car that I’m looking at is the one that ‘Carholic4life’ posted here on the 1st page. It’s the red with red & white exterior.

Just remember, if it is mostly original, then none of the needed maintenance that should have been done in past 50 years may still have to be done. Brakes system, fuel system, suspension bushings, axle bearings/seals lubrication. Just to name a few.

Make sure seller has kept maintenance log on work done in past 4 years. That will give you a starting point whether you will have a lot to do before you put it on the road. Look closely at brake li as for rust, back of wheels for old grease on backing plates. Fuel lines for rust, gas tank for rust all over under body for rust, rust pits and rust holes. The more you find showing its age, the more you have to to contend with later.
