Anybody Have All of These?
Posted by: Phil Dally ()

While perusing Clark's online catalog I came across this balance tube list.

I started a collection of PCV tubes and only need the Desert Air K46.

This list would be a worth while endeavor to find and collect all 26.

Clark's Catalog
Does not fit Turbo A/C or oil bath air cleaner.

Can somebody please explain this sentence.

Turbo is obvious but all others have them.

Gem is 140 A/C and it definitely has one.

I just might have that one of those Tim? I’ll have to check the stash as I do have quite a few of them.

Phil, what does the Desert tube look like?

Gator...it is really an oddball. If you have one that you want to sell consider it sold.

My A/C cars have balance tubes as well. Maybe just catalog description confusion between the crankcase vent tubes and carburetor balance tubes? Note the similar catalog text when they comment about used PCV tubes for sale.

Wait!

I thought this was about the balance tubes??????? Not sure I have all but definitely quite a few.

As far as the vent tube I may have had one and tossed it thinking it was non-Corvair!

Gee Phil, that really is an odd ball PCV tube eye popping smiley
I’ll be sure to take a look as it won’t be difficult to spot.

I don't think that Clark's list is right. There are a lot of them but not that many. Is there any difference between a car balance tube and one for a FC? Also I have a '68 110 and a '69 140 both with manual trans and very original and their balance tubes have the fitting for the PG and it is just capped. Also for '60 there would be 2, 1 for 3sp and the other for PG's.

The balance tube on my 1962 Monza 900 with air conditioning, automatic, and a factory PCV system has a balance tube with two vacuum take offs Part #3817855 and upper tube assembly part #3817840 Assembly Manual [1962-211]

Note that the factor spot welded the bracket at an angle, and they drilled another hole in the sheet metal, and attached it with a "factory" sheet metal screw. Probably didn't have another on the line to fix the error, so they did the next best thing to keep the line moving...
