How many will still have the sticker in good enough shape to read?

I bought a set of 62393 six ton stands last fall to pull the leaking landing strut in my coach.

62393 are the same as the currently available non recall six ton jack stands according to website.

Are the jack stands you returned the three ton or six ton...if six ton what number did they give you.

If someone has some of the bad ones it would be great to have pictures to ID them in case the stickers are gone.

I don't understand the whole Harbor Freight thing. The tools suck and in this case can cost you your life

Dave, A lot of their stuff is garbage but some of it is actually pretty nice.

Uhoh, my van is on 4 of the affected ones, and I don't have a suspension in it. Guess I'll need to make some cribbing.

I can post some pictures of them for id once I get them out. Mine are the newer style with item #61196

Yeah, I guess some might be OK. I've tended to buy used tools from brand names - price is decent and the quality is good.

Here is a sample of what they get away with. You will have to jump to ~2:30

It is pretty common for Chinese castings to have voids filled like that. I've seen it on a vice.

My old 6 ton ones were the 61197 number and grey like Phil's pics and the replacements are 56370 and Red. I compared the old and new at the store, the new ones have deeper notches in the support shaft at more of an angle and a sharper support locking tab, also the new ones are missing a Rib in the support shaft that limited the travel of the old stand and would not let you bottom the support in the stand, I always wondered about that and think that was the flaw in the old design, it would let the support shaft rest on the tab that keeps the shaft from coming out of the stand, the one you bend after putting them together, if you put a car on the stand with it in that position it would drop, but only about 2 inches, I bet that was the design flaw that warranted a recall.

So I took my recalled HF jack stands back and got new ones on exchange, while there needed some bungee cords, wouldn’t ya know it! Good job China!

One of my fellow Gas Company workers got smacked in the eyeball like that.

One guess what is no longer allowed on service trucks by So Cal Gas Co.

Hook came off, I've had that happen and got hit before so I don't use any bungie straps anymore. Luckily it wasn't my eye.

I also wish they would ban the dark rubbery ones with the steel hooks. You find one laying in about every other intersection or side of the road where it's come lose.... wonder what load is missing it's holddowns..

Yep, thanks for the notice. Have 2 pair of the 6 ton. Was the "gift" card enough to buy new ones? I'll be pissed if new ones cost more than old ones (but yes I understand it's worth not being crushed)

No gift card, they had the much better replacements in stock, These new ones are much bigger, heavier and seem much more stout that the old ones!

The hook was never installed on the bungee cord, no extra hooks in the package.
