Weld it back together. It will probably be stronger that it was.

I'm waiting on the LeMat .44 to go on sale at Cabela's. It only weighs 3.5 lbs so it should be a good carry gun. My current carry gun is only 2.75lbs but it has an 8" barrel. I'm not sure I'll like the 6.75" barrel on the LeMat but extra 3 rounds and the shotgun will be nice to have.

I thought about that.
BUT, the welds are not accessible from the top, and the Jack can not be fully disassembled.
Sections of it are welded together rather than bolted.
I also considered the safety of doing such a thing, and decided against it.

Does buying more machinery to make Corvair stuff count?

I haven't received any $1200, but I did get $189.00 for some reason. I bought a new Engine Harness and some lenses for the family telescope.

Speaking as an English man who runs a welding and fabrication company I would be much happier welding my jack together than walking around with a gun in my pocket!

I hope. Haven't got the funds yet but already spending on tools and materials to try to make our fuel pumps more versatile and last longer.

It's in a holster and it doesn't tend to shoot people on its own. Not even when I'm welding. Do guns have some prejudice against welders?
You would be surprised at how polite people are in general when you are carring a gun.
I was really glad I had it last summer when a guy came at me with a knife. He didn't realize I had a gun.

Their site says closed until May 4th. at least. I bet when they do open they are going to be swamped with orders the first week or so.

Strange.
I never understood english & canadian fear of guns.
I have NEVER ever ever, heard of a gun shooting a person!

"Look out jake! There is a gun in that desk. You don't want to spook it! It just might panic and shoot someone!" eye rolling smiley

Being an "Englishman" Are you afraid of Kitchen Knives also?
I understand THAT item is the tool of choice amongst a certain immigrant group in your population.
But hey, they can even use a rock if they want to kill you that badly.
Rental Vans even seem to work over there as well. Maybe you should ban those too!

Each to their own, and we are both looking at this from very different upbringings and social environments.
My opinion though is that I can see a man with a knife coming towards me, or a stone or a rental van, I don't think I could spot a bullet quick enough.
We have plenty of guns out in the countryside where I live but we don't tend to take them to the mall or restaurants.
Not out for a debate though, just interesting observations from different view points.

Beetle, how can you explain all the deaths from knives, hammers vans? Those people didn't see it coming just like the first people killed by crazy people with guns. If you are not the first, I agree, you may see it coming. But not if you are first. Easier to neutralize with a gun to protect others, than to run and hide from the crazy person. JMO.

And I did not get a check yet and if I do, I would not say I used it on things it was not intended for. I would be no better than people using other free government money for drugs and alcohol, instead of food and lodging.

Good to know you won't be buying drugs or alcohol!

For those of us lucky enough to not need it or to still be working, once the money is in our accounts, it's commingled with the rest of the money. If you buy something you otherwise would not have, you used government money to do so. If you don't buy anything you otherwise would not have, well you're still not using it as intended because the money isn't being reinvested in the economy or for food/rent.

For me - the money will go towards paying down student loans (as soon as my Credit Union reopens for me to cash the check).

I haven't seen a 10% eBay coupon in several months. None at all in fact until I got a 5% 2 days ago. I went a little nuts and spent $900 but I also used Befrugal that is supposed to give me $10 and 3% back also as well as 2% back on my credit card.
If anyone wants to try Befrugal let me invite you and supposedly we will both get $10. I have no idea if they will actually pay out but they have good ratings.
