Looking for these few parts to complete a 66 140 4-carb setup. The car came to me with those bits missing on one side unfortunately.

Borrowed images below show the 4 pieces I'm searching for.

Hi Dave,

Do you know which version of the lockout hardware is correct? I know there are two different thicknesses of the lockout plate and bolt shoulder. I had to buy a complete set of the thicker version (if that makes sense) from Ken Hand because the thinner plate versions with the smaller bolt shoulder wouldn't match my carbs. I actually have that set available, but someone in the USA may have a set that could be mailed much cheaper than me sending a set from Canada.

I didn't know there were two versions until moments ago. I got a PM asking me to send detailed pics of the other H carb linkage. I'm doing that tonight and will also post the info here.

It was tough to get my camera back in there with the A/C condenser in the way. Are these pics good enough to tell which version I have?

Those are the larger 65 style linkage pieces by the looks of it.

The 66 style link was very small like the size of a #4 screw, the 65 was about the size of a #8 screw.

I'll have to pay more attention to watch for those differences. The car is a 66 but I know the engine has been apart so no telling what got swapped. I just wanted to match what was on the other carb currently.

Steve Goodman is hooking me up with some parts so thanks to all!

Ken,

Skool me further on this. I thought 65 didn't have secondary lockouts just 66 onward? Where did I go wrong on this one?

Thanks

From PM's I've received (and other research since this came up) I'm being told the linkage I pictured here (with secondary lock-outs) was seen on late build 65's and into 66. There was yet another change that went to the end. Ken?

I might have found some of the later lock-out parts mentioned here too so I will take comparison pics and post once I have it sorted.

This is the set I have. Note that the lockout plate for this set is 0.095 of an inch thick with matching shoulder screws. I had thinner lockout plates, but I found that they would bind a bit with the wider shoulder for these plates.

Thanks Dave for the information. I wonder if anybody is able to update Bob Helt's Rochester book?

Are those big round "return springs" supposed to be under tension?
And if so, how much?

The spings wind up CCW a little over a 1/4 turn so not much tension. The spring locates on a post on the carb body and the slot in the cam arm so it's a preset amount. Not something you have to worry about.

Dave
I think that you have the versions backwards. My '69 140 has what you say is version #1. I checked with a club member who is now the seconded owner of a '69 140 and I also have 2 carbs on the shelf with the correct part # for the '68-'9 secondaries and they all have version #1. The reason for the change is the smog system. On my car there is maybe a 1/4" between the back of the right secondary carb and the smog pump. Version # 2 would take up a lot more room. The thinner lever with the smaller rod that has both ends pointing forward saved some much needed space. The thinner lever actually has an offset going forward where the link attaches to help save space. On your version #2 the "chock shaft would need to be longer so that the thicker link without an offset could use a fatter rod and then have the top end face the other way and still have the rod going straight up and down. This change probably happen at the same time they changed from the straight secondary throttle pivots to the offset secondary pivots to allow room (as seen in the version #1 photo) for the smog pump. Other than the years backwards it is a nice job of showing the different components of the 2 systems doing the same thing.

I just checked my secondaries on my 68 140, and they are as Rex mentioned above, version #1, as Dave has shown.
