() Date: April 09, 2020 06:25AM If you're not much of a folkie you might not remember him. His first album was released in 1971. Some of his more famous songs are "Illegal Smile" and "Your Flag Decal Won't Get You Into Heaven Anymore". He was still active in the music scene and did some stuff with Iris DeMent. Iris did "Our Town" song featured on the final episode of TV show "Northern Exposure". My favorite John Prine song is "Hello In There" about being nice to old people. I enjoy this video someone made. [www.youtube.com] Sorry to go so far O/T from Corvairs but this is about the only group I frequent . () Date: April 09, 2020 07:17AM I like his music as well - I seem to listen to a lot of Steve Goodman (the singer, not the Corvair Guru), from time to time, and there are quite a few collaborations between the two. Eric P. DeWitt, IA Re: O/T John Prine Folksinger Dead from Covid-19 Posted by:

() Date: April 09, 2020 07:49AM Thanks for posting. His music has meant a lot to me for many years. More then I think I realized. Spent two long nights in the driveway listening to his music since I heard the news. Re: O/T John Prine Folksinger Dead from Covid-19 Posted by:

() Date: April 09, 2020 01:38PM I forgot about Sam Stone "There's a hole in daddy's arm where all the money goes..." I referenced "Dear Abby" here when The Californian was posting. Someone had said the post belonged in an Ann Landers column and the song came to mind. Jim Brandberg Isanti, MN CorvairRepair.com ![]() Re: O/T John Prine Folksinger Dead from Covid-19 Posted by:

() Date: April 10, 2020 06:32PM Back in the 70s at the University of Illinois, John Prine, Bonnie Kokack and Steve Goodman were some of my favorites and sometimes held concerts together. Saw John Prine in concert there many times...always a good time. He had an unusual voice, but some great stories. I can still sing lyrics to some of his songs. () Date: April 13, 2020 09:29AM I attended two of his concerts over the years. He was the favorite songwriter of many famous songwriters, including Bob Dylan, Chris Kristofferson and Bonnie Riatt. Jim, Harry, Steve Goodman, Warren Zevon and Townes Van Zandt were probably standing line to greet him as he entered the Pearly Gates. YouTube G Moore Edited 1 time(s).
