() Date: April 02, 2020 06:27PM Has it ever been done...I know about Jay Eitel's front engine car. On Saturday I will acquire a spare V12...Pontiac 8 is going in it. Jaguar V12 comes with TH-400 so I'll have that adapter plate. Jaguar 5.3 V12 with big car Powerglide and a C5 differential. Is a Jag V12 any longer than a Mark IV Big Block Chevy V8. Searched all over and cant find any actual dimensions. I still have a SuperVair sub frame...perfect Y/N? Attachments: ![]() ![]() ![]() Re: V12 in the Back Seat of a Corvair Posted by:

() Date: April 02, 2020 07:16PM I'll take any dimensions you'd like! I've got a '90 XJS that I'm parting out. I've got the fuel injection off, so it will be easy to measure the long block. If you want to save length, adapt to a six rib, VW 1980-'83 Vanagon transaxle. It'll take the HP, and KEP sells adapter plates. It's not a quiet engine, push it as far back away from you as possible. () Date: April 03, 2020 07:54AM I remember researching a V12 mid engine swap some years back. If I recall the Jag V12 weighs in around 780lbs and is around 7-8" longer. Don't quote me as memory ain't what it used to be. A Kelmark setup is what I had planned. Still think a supercharged V12 would be trick! Go for it! Re: V12 in the Back Seat of a Corvair Posted by:

() Date: April 03, 2020 08:33AM I cant hardly wait to dig into that "Price of Darkness" fuel injection. Turns out there is quite the Jag V12 boat powered group in England. They have come up with a few carburetor alternative manifolds. Holley...you always know what your going to get from them. Attachments: ![]() ![]() Re: V12 in the Back Seat of a Corvair Posted by:

() Date: April 03, 2020 08:56AM Phil, you're a tall guy and as you know, tall guys are challenged in mid-V8 cars. The 326 cubic inch Jag V12 is a very long engine. I don't see where this is happening unless you install a TH425 Transaxle. With the TH425, the swap is very practical. Lance Jordan has an 18" bell housing between his 350 and his TH425 primarily to get the blower under the roof. Without that long bell housing, the engine would be way-back in the chassis which would be a plus for that V12. Note Lance's engine ends up in the normal small-block position. Note where Lance (passenger) ends up relative to the door opening. Lance's daughter (driver) is very short so her seat position is abnormally forward and not relevant here. Craig N. () Date: April 03, 2020 08:58AM Interesting! Who makes the manifolds? () Date: April 03, 2020 09:02AM I'm familiar with Lance's car and the TH425 is an interesting idea. That bellhousing pattern is Oldsmobile and or Cadillac right? Re: V12 in the Back Seat of a Corvair Posted by:

() Date: April 03, 2020 09:05AM Haven't found who on the manifold yet...search carburetor Jag V12. These above were in an old expired gumtree.com (UK Craigslist) ad. Re: V12 in the Back Seat of a Corvair Posted by:

() Date: April 03, 2020 09:16AM Yeah, did that before I posted, only found the same one. All I can find are Weber and SU conversions. () Date: April 03, 2020 05:26PM Wikipedia says, "Four bolt holes and two locator pins are common to the Chevrolet, and B-O-P patterns. Some transmissions take advantage of this by integrating both specifications into a "universal" bolt pattern casting." Does that mean what I think it means? () Date: April 04, 2020 05:25AM I think the Jag TH400 has a bolt pattern that is not SBC or BOP. TH400s were used in other cars (Rolls Royce?) and had cases that were specific to the engines that they were mated to. Something to check while you are "imagine engineering"! Indeed it is a completely different pattern that is British. Re: V12 in the Back Seat of a Corvair Posted by:
