I'm exhausted - New logs and flowmasters on an EM
Posted by: keitho64 ()

About two years ago I purchased a set of exhaust logs from David Kostich. I never got around to installing them, so I took some time while I am ‘sheltered at home’ to install them.

A while ago I had Clarks headers with turbo mufflers on the car. While I loved the boost in performance, I was not happy with the lack of heat and need to replace exhaust packings annually.

I went back to stock exhaust logs with the tiny 1.5” pipes and ran them into some turbo mufflers. This sounded great but the power loss from the headers always stuck in my mind.

Here are a couple exhaust clips of the car with the factory logs.

Fast forward to the 2020 Shelter at Home and it is time to do the swap.

The first picture is passenger side if the muffler and tiny pipe as heard in the videos.

I purchased a pair of flow master mufflers with a 2” center inlet and a 2” off set outlet, two 2” j-pipes and a pair of turn down tailpipes.

Here are some comparison pictures of the factory logs and the one’s David makes. This should create a decent bump in performance.

Here is the completed passenger side

I will get some videos of the car idling and post along with a driving one if anyone is interested. All in all I am very happy with the result. I have the shrouds hooked up, I am getting heat and have a decent bump in the seat-o-pants dyno.

While I was at this I made a note of the big job for next winter, time to replace the push rod seals. :-(

Those logs are cool! I like your setup. I think a set of those would work great on my turbo car, if I could work out the flanges.

Yes, David Kostich. He is out of SoCal and a long time CORSA member. I'll send you his contact info via PM.

I got all my suspension bushings from him and he does big bore carbs and many other performance parts.

Thanks Matt, I did not know if it was OK to post.

David is a great guy, full of fantastic stories. I hope to meet him face to face some day.

Yes he has them for all. I know his personal car is a 140 running the logs and bored out carbs he modifies.
