Join the Virtual Garage Quarantine
Posted by: kenzen ()

So if the idea is to practice "social distance", I'm going to pull out the list of stuff I need to get done on the vair and other cars, and quarantine myself in the garage. I have new short steering arms from Matt, and the brakes need bleeding. My pickup needs new front brakes and a master cylinder, and O2 sensors. If I get momentum, I'll jump back into the vair and weld up a crossover pipe into my dual exhaust. If my job goes to "mandatory telework" (and then figures out the network connection can't handle the entire workforce logging in remotely), I'm going to work early mornings for a few hours, and then continue the quarantine through the week. Church and kids sports events all cancelled - I can get a lot done in all of this... smiling smiley

We have canceled and or rescheduled 2 of 3 Gold Prospecting trips this spring.

It is unnecessary travel we are over sixty and my wife has auto immune disorders.

No fear only reality and we are simply doing what the authorities have told us to do.

We have not bought any extra toilet paper and I don't do lines like the ones right now.

So that means extra money that I would have spent and extra time...time to get caught up.

I'll be right there with you Kenzen and the list of Corvair projects is long...mega car guy time.

Wife has two online businesses she can keep herself busy with digital downloads and vintage jewelry.

We went to WalMart, Aldi's and Sam's last night buying ingredients to make cookies. It was amazing. There weren't too many people but the stores had about 20% of the products they usually have. Lots of completely bare shelves. If I didn't know what was happening I would have thought they were going out of business. The meat freezers at Sam's were completely empty and so were all the bread racks and shelves. WalMart has an one isle that is all bread and I counted about five loaves left and it was the $5 organic bread.

Glad I was a couple weeks ahead of the curve on stocking up on most things. What a mess, very surreal.

Well said Dave. I am in total agreement. Looking forward to seeing you in SD in a few months. Oh, and did you hear the good news? President Trump's days are numbered. He has just under 5 years left as our president!

Dave! This topic is about working in your garage for the next few weeks and what projects you need to get done.

This is not a "Conspiracy Website", nor Topic...

We've talked about this many times... so now, I just edit / delete as needed.

Well I don't care I still believe like Dave. I still believe he's conspiring to give Corvairs a good name! Maybe he can start a Corvair pandemic...who knows anything for sure anymore. eye rolling smiley Mike

I have to remove my dashboard, again. I have a short in the system that I just. can't. FIND!! Gonna use the time for that. I have also purchased a small Turbo Boost gauge that seems to fit. Gonna see if I can make it work.

Then there is the leak in the oil pan....

Otherwise, all I want to do is drive by myself with a kid or two. Just get out and away from everything.

So the first 4 post’s before mine all talk about the Corona crap and what people are doing / Handling it, I post facts about doctors saying the media is blowing this out of proportion with links to support those facts, and you delete my post but the others still stand? You are worse than face book!

Same here. I've had the flu before. Not worried.
Changed the fuel pump in one of the Jag's this morning. Changing from winter to summer tires on my daily driver this afternoon. Planning to finish a transmission rebuild tonight. Detailing the Alfa tomorrow. Back to work in the machine shop Monday.

The results of my self-imposed "Carowner Virus" quarantine:

Hand-polished all the diamond plate on the V8 Rampside and did a little detailing on the 305 V8 engine:

Not taking any time off work to stay home, as of now...but we'll see how things progress. As of now tho, in the garage most nights after work, during week, and on weekends, building an engine for my daily driver. 110 PG, using 95HP heads.

My original engine is kinda tired, and needs a break.

Hope all stay safe, and that SD Convention goes as planned, and can see/meet more of y'all then.

My plan for the day is to move my circuit board production line into my extra-large enclosed car trailer and bring it to my new house. Those 40-minute round trips are eating into my day.

We started telecommuting for work today, so with that extra hour that I gain from not driving, I guess I can finally fix my gas gauge that hasn't worked since I bought the car!
