Backup camera on 67 PG
Posted by: Ron62 ()

Im installing a backup camera on my 67 110 PG and wondering where the reverse wire is located under the dash. Im not sure if its a separate switch or part the the neutral safety switch. Also does anyone know what color the wire is on a 67?

Thanks
Ron

Ron,

Just so you'll know about the neutral safety switch. It's a double gang interrupter switch. The heavy purple wire runs the power to the starter. The switch keeps that power from being sent to the starter should the car be in any other gear but neutral.

The lighter green wire provides constant power to the backup lights. The switch keeps that from happening unless the car is in reverse.

Hope this helps you to understand your car a bit better.

Thanks Mark,
That helps a lot. So, I should just be able to attach to the light green wire with the reverse trigger wire for the camera so when in reverse, power triggers the head unit to the camera mode and power will flow to the camera.

Light Green joined to Red on the Yellow RCA cable that goes to camera..

Thanks Matt. Yes, I just got done building a custom center console which incorporates a 7 inch touch screen head unit. I recently upgraded from the bench seat in my 500 to a set of Procar seats. Gave plenty of room between them for a decent sized center console. Thought I'd install a backup camera while I was at it. smiling smiley
