Clutch cable

Some may seen this on FB, but I'll add here for others

Finally something broke on the Corvair, after 10 years of driving it.

I was adjusting the clutch Saturday and the cable snapped. Choice: order a new one for $33 plus $75 freight, and about $30 in duties and charges, waiting a few weeks for it to arrive, or have one made. I had one made for $12.93. Took it to the guy Monday morning and picked up the new one in the afternoon.

It is a little shop, about 12'x 10', where the guy makes cables all day. Nothing else. He previously made me an accelerator cable for the Mini.

Very nice Richard. We have a house in Mexico. I get all sorts of things made there. Usually very nice and very inexpensive too.

Looks nice and can't beat that price. Hopefully the larger stranded cable holds up.

We don't have shops like that up here. The youngers like to think we can 3D print everything, so the specialty shops have about all gone away!!!! hot smiley

There shops around in marinas with lots of sail boats. I've had some pretty nice stuff remade for my boat.

The early cables were 2 piece.

That looks like a nice cable!
