I saw Rush in 1985 with Blue Oyster Cult. There was no better drummer than Neal Peart.

Bummer! I have gone to every Rush concert since they started, my brother and I attended every one when they were in town, almost like losing a family member. RIP Neal. sad smiley

That is a drag for sure and I just heard it on the talk radio news.
I am sorry to say RUSH is 1 group I never saw live but certainly like
a lot of their stuff. R I P Neal. Thanks for a lot of great stuff.

The news of Neil's passing hit me like a punch in the gut. Rush has been my favorite band since I was 13 and was introduced to them by my new best friend in 8th grade. They were huge in my high school and in the Detroit area in general through the '80s. I only saw them live once - my parents bought me concert tickets for my 14th birthday. I stopped listening to them in college but fell back in love with their music about 20 years ago.

After dinner I was in the basement cleaning off my workbench with Rush blaring in the background. My oldest son came downstairs and somewhat jokingly asked if I was in mourning.

Yes. Yes, I am (with Rush still playing in the background).

I got a backstage pass to a Rush concert in Denver, about '82. I have played all my life (and still do), and thought I was pretty good until I sat behind Neil and watched him work. I was exhausted just watching, trying to keep up mentally.
His physical, mental and technical skills are absolutely mind boggling. He is one of the top 3 percussionists in history, and will remain a legend far into the future.

I don't know who the worlds greatest drummer was but we also lost Ginger Baker last year. He was 80 and lived in Parker Colorado.

For those with SiriusXM radio, channel 27 (Deep Tracks) is playing non-stop Rush as a tribute to Neil. Not sure for how long - my neighbor told me about it a couple of days ago and he said all week.
