Right, does the vent system have a road draft tube? If not, it needs to be connected to engine vacuum either through a PCV vale (a la 1962/63) or through the special orifice tube on 64 and later.

I didn't think the road draft tube installation had a port through the fan shroud.

No, it went out through the right-hand side lower tin, near the thermostat. IIRC
