Finally got out my 1969 assembly manual and the heater delete is shown. The only photo of a delete plate by The Stig shows a 68-69 as shown by the center dash pad added around the radio/ash tray. Can't imagine many were ordered.

That's the thing about factory literature and documents. Sometimes they can contradict one another. Will have to look into that and maybe update my data base.

This wouldn't be the first time for this to happen, BTW. So I'm not surprised.

Yenko Stinger and Heater Delete

I was looking at copo.com and pictures of Yenko Stingers and I noticed that the stingers DO COME WITH a heater....a racer needs to stay warm!

Can a stinger owner verify this for me?

Also, I noticed the the 1967 stingers had wheel cover deletes and 1966 did not. This appears to be the only delete options on all stingers. Is this correct?

Thanks.

While NOT a Stinger owner, this would make total sense.
While intended for racing, the Stinger was SOLD AS a street car.

I want to wrap this thread up with a pretty, GM documented, red bow.
Could heter delete be ordered with air conditioning?

NO!

While chatting with Dave Newell about a different topic I noticed in the Dealer Ordering Manual a comment under the heater delete option. It says

Quote

Not available when air conditioning is ordered.

Everyone can sleep peacefully knowing this. I will! cool smiley

All Stingers came from Chevrolet with a heater. Some had them removed, but only the dedicated race cars. A significant number had back seats as well. Mostly Stage 1 cars, and some Stage II.

This was interesting.

I know from personal experience when orderings a new 1969 Camaro that the dealer could order things only to have the "factory" call them and deny the build.

Being a kid my "Dad's" insurance company told him "NO FOUR SPEED, NO BIG ENGINE". I did some homework and ordered a floor mounted three speed, low compression 350 C.I. engine, and no power assist four wheel disc. brakes. Two weeks later the dealer called to say "The factory requires a heavy duty three speed with a 350 C.I. engine and the four wheel disc option is sold out". Turns out that four wheel disc brake option was just on the option sheet to make it legal for racing. If you didn't have the right "connections" you were told "Sorry that's sold out".
