65 Coupe Parts Car Available! GONE!@!
Posted by: isucorvair ()
Date: December 10, 2019 05:52PM

65 Coupe. Was a Monza, then a Corsa.
VIN matches title (Corsa), but not original to the car?
Body tag is for a turbo Corsa, and riveted on.

One quarter size hole in floor I could find.
Normal rust in quarters. Battery box gone, soft trunk bottom.
Small hole in drivers hinge pillar, above lower hinge. Windshield lower panel rusted. Some bondo in front panel.
No engine, transaxle, or any shifter parts (missing clutch /brake pedal, shift rod, etc)
Factory tinted windshield.
White, with black and white interior. Missing gages, glove box, radio. Was an Air Conditioned Car.
Car had mice. Stinky inside.

Trade the car for a 66-69 Four speed transaxle (good used)

Car located in DeWitt, IA

Interior. Headliner is white and has a mouse hole. Rear seat is a 66 White seat, folding. Cover on rear is shot. Frame is good. Front seats are not terrible. Door panels have tears in them, and are warped. Carpet isn't bad, but stinks. Drivers seat was white at some point, and painted. Kick Panels were blueish, and painted.

Seriously - trade me something. I need a good used 66-69 4 speed Transaxle.

The car is seriously cheap. Make me an offer, or trade me something you have laying around.

The car is 20 miles north of I-80, in Eastern IA, and 1 mile East of Highway 61.

I don't need another Vair, but I am now curious, and I imagine others are too . . . . can you explain this Monza/Corsa issue a little better?
What does the hidden V.I.N. indicate?
Does it match the one in the engine compartment?

Got the car this way.
VIN and body tag are pop riveted in. Both indicate 65 Corsa (Turbo on body tag)

I have not looked at the hidden VIN- I can try. Appears to have Monza cross holes filled in front fenders, and also had factory AC, which wasn’t available on a Corsa in 65. Has the ‘mystery box’ so it’s a 65.

It could be saved- it’s fairly solid, and honestly better than many I see pics of being saved- but- for me, with the VIN, it’s a parts car, or a race car?

If it was really factory A/C, are ALL the windows tinted?

I myself am guessing that the A/C was original to the car because I see a spare tire hold down in the trunk which you seldom see with an owner install.
As for the tinted glass, experts tell me that tinted glass all around was not part of the A/C option package and had to be ordered in addition to A/C.

They were, but they no longer are. I swapped them out with good clear glass. The windshield is still LOF factory Tinted glass.

Also, not all AC cars had factory tinted glass, for example, my factory AC 66 Convertible does not, and never did.

As shown above. I'll look tonight, but I am 99% certain it doesn't match.

Why? The Trim tag shows beige with beige interior, 66 Corsa Turbo.

The car has never been beige, that I can find. I believe it started life as an Artesian Turquoise 65 Monza Coupe.

If someone is truly interested, make an offer (I prefer to trade parts, not money).

Ideally, I want a '66-69 four speed transaxle, for the car and title.

I'd also entertain a trade for some headers, or an aluminum OTTO pan, or a Corsa Dash, or ???

If you decide to part it out I am in need of a couple of parts. Send PM if willing to sell off parts of trim and misc bits.
I personally would not part it out but it is not mine.

To me,too caries too far away. But if it was closer, I would get it as a parts car only. Knowing hidden VIN isn't matching title, pop riveted VIN plate or body data plate. Someone pulled a fast one back in its history.

Eric,
The posted pictures show the dash a/c vents have been removed; were they thrown in the back seat, or are they just gone? Was the a/c piping/wiring in the engine compartment hacked, or can it be reused? Have a transaxle to trade, but would only want useable parts, not the whole car. Is that a problem?
