What are the differences (If any) between an EM vs LM PG? Thanks

Also, can you bolt an EM PG to a LM differential without any issues?

Primarily, the 1964 - 1969 Powerglide was designed with higher hydraulic pressure to allow for the additional torque of the larger displacement engines.

External dimensions remained the same, so Yes they will interchange.

Here is a link to the discussion when you asked the same question a few years ago. GGG

Thanks... Yet another reason why the doctor had me get a brain MRI last month.

At least I'm consistent with my plans and even my questions. LOL

Matt, I'm happy to be alive, with my health and brain issues.

Matt, I would share a recent advent (that had me in tears) with how bad it can be at times.
But I don't need the jokes or the pity.. So we'll leave it at that.

Anyways, I have 2 FC PGs (with the external coolers) for my Corvair Ultravans, that I picked up years ago and I have yet to decide if I will use only the pumps and mount them on a LM PG or go ahead and use the entire FC PG.

a GREAT automotive Detective - Bob Ballew - has investigated the PowerGlide and reveals amazing discoveries in detail.

Corvanatics - the FC Group has published this info online. Please become a member!

On the fabulous Corvanatics Website - go to the Manuals page <=LinK and scroll down - way down. Near the bottom are two listings:
Differential Technical Guide and PowerGlide Technical Guide

The two links are PDF documents, so save 'em to your Shop Computer.
In the PowerGlide document - go down to page 27 and you find Bob's complete discussion of what changes were done to the PG to make it a stronger Later edition.

Bob Ballew, there is a great Corvair name out of the past. I remember at the Fan Belt Toss one year there were about 6 people all rebuilding their PGs at the same time with him assisting/overseeing what everyone was doing. This had to be 30+ years ago.

Thanks again Dan for the link to that PG article.

I'm on page 5 of the article it now, or page 31 of the link.

If I am not mistaken, aren't the dipsticks a different length.
