UPDATE

Knock on wood. Will have pictures by the end of the day or tomorrow.

4 door is a '60 also.It is green.

Whether it can be saved is still up in the air.

Was told just now coupe is 'Rally prepared and body is in good condition'.

Post pic's as soon as they are sent to me.

Been reading up on '60s.

Thanks Mel

My one buddy said see if there is roll cage in it.

Would kind of like to know that myself.

Curious about whether the transaxle is still in it.

In the trunk would be okay!smiling smiley

Wondered about the buckets. That is going to be cool if it has race buckets.

Can play musical chairs and use them in our other builds.

Pictures might pop up during the week.

I will check during the week and find out if it is going to be next week too.

Me has to wonder how you bought this thing without knowing any more details about how it is built and what is included than you do.
Just my novice observation. I like surprises as much as the next guy, just not in my projects.

'why you bought this'

Faith in the seller.

'bet it's a landspeed build'

That would be nice.I think.Don't know how that is different than rally or slalom.

Actually he did say 'Rally'.

'High desert where?'

I will PM you that info.

'I sure hope the deal goes thru , can't wait to see the pictures'

Sorry it took so long to respond here.Thank you!

REPORT

Talked to the seller tonight earlier.

'Coupe' is actually a 4 door.

Color is white.Body is in good shape.

No interior. No bucket seats, race or any kind.

Lexan glass windshield is sun damaged and unusable. Was required for Rally or

Autocross.

No engine. He does not remember if transaxle is there or not.

About the other regular '60 4 door.

It is green and complete.

He can't recall if 3 speed or automatic.

Says fixable is up to me.He said it is rustier than he likes but did say it was

surface rust.

Will be getting some parts then these two cars last.Complete car before rally

one.

That is it for now.

Hhhmmmm a number for the car before the car is known... let's just get back to rebuilding the carburetors and get the book Perry put of a few years ago.

Thanks Mel!

'have you picked a Rally number for the Corvair?'

Well.Yes.It is CURRENTLY a rally prepared car.

Would it be okay with you if we use it for Corsa slalom?

Thanks Steve

'let's just get back to rebuilding the carburetors and get the book Perry put of a few years ago'

Well Steve.Do you think you could refrain from telling us what to do?

They have post offices where you are at right?

See the American flag in front. That means we are free to do what we want and when we want.

Besides. The '64 carbs are probably not even going to go on either of these cars.

Yes.BOTH carb books are on our list.

The prices for them seem fair.My Christmas money is already earmarked for the local machine shop.So.Sometime in the New Year we will get the books.

Thanks Dave!

Remind me to put anti glare on the back of the car for you.So when we blow by you on the race track there is not a safety hazard vision problem.

Rock Auto Parts racing pitted against Spend O Rama racing.

See you at the track.Be there or be square!

'He is having fun! I want to see his new cars! Might be interesting?'

This is where we are headed.

Big block mid engine custom frame.

Kelmark Toranado GT did it 40 years ago.

'a big-block V8 "Super Car" utilizing a custom tube frame to accept an Oldsmobile Toronado drive unit mounted in the mid-engine position driving the rear wheels. Typically, these rare GT's were powered by the Olds 425 or 455 cubic inch (7.5 litre) engine. One of these models was outfitted with a highly tuned, Chevrolet big-block 454 cubic inch engine and was tested by Car and Driver and broke the 200 mph barrier.'

Wrenching on these Corvairs are stops on the way to that.

California.

Think big, talk big live big!

Thanks Joel

Sorry. We are a little more now and future oriented than the past.

Here are some tidbits.
1 There was a Hewland of Corvair transmissions. It was CIDCO.They beefed up the '66 and up transmission. That '66 Corvair trans from the factory was internally like a big block Chevelle tranny.Differential yokes are the weak spot.I've been told.

2 We 'discovered' GM 60 degree V6 engine. Those are good match for first mid engine conversion.Just right horsepower for first mid engine conversions project.

Anyhow.Keeping in touch with the guy about the two '60 4 doors.
