Hey guys, I am new here. I just acquired 3 Corvairs. A 66 Corsa 4 speed 180, a 65 manual 140 convertible, and a 65 manual 110 convertible. My plan is to put the triple Webber engine in the Corsa and drive it like that. I will keep the turbo motor in case I ever want to swap it back in.

Here is the Corsa.

I may build a turbo setup for the 140 as well. I have a lot to read!!

Yes, I did jump in with both feet! I have been lurking for a long time, and I have a porsche 914 with a 3.4L motor on the stand ready for the transplant so I am not new to air cooled motors.

I was really looking for a good car to make into a nice driver. This car caught my eye, and I bid 8K. I called the seller and he said the reserve was set at 12K so I did not think about it again. In the meantime, John at Corvair Corral in Phoenix told me about the convertible, with all receipts and new parts, for 5K. I decided I would settle for a soft top given all the other stuff done to the car. The auction ended the next day, and I got an email stating I won the auction. The seller said he lowered the reserve at the last second because I told him I bid 8K. Now I own two. The pictures are too big but here is a link to a folder with pics of both cars.

The real corsa had a lot of work done recently. (last couple months) The carb was originally blue, and was rebuilt along with new brakes, gas tank, etc etc as posted in the listing. I realize it is not a perfect original example, and he told me the only rust was the flaking in the front of the door jams, so I guess I will try to make it my driver. I don't feel bad about swapping motors etc but I will keep the turbo just in case I want to swap it back some day.

I also have a Mendeola, LS motor, and other parts that may sway me to do a swap. I will likely find another donor for that project.

Enjoy the pics!!

Steve sez: With Patrick Motorsports near you why not do a 3.4L swap
in the 914. Nice flare install too.

Good luck with the Weber Corvair too and welcome to CCF.

best wishes, Steve

Patrick is awesome, but out of my price range. My motor is a 3.2 with a 3.6 crank. Makes it about a 3.4L. The motor is a copy of several others he built, all with a final dyno between 320 and 330hp. Should make the 914 fun. The biggest problem is that I have 5 kids. It's hard to pick kids up in a 2 seat car. Ultimately that killed the Vette, Z3 M roadster, and evert 2 seater I have ever owned. The corvair at least has a back seat, or it would be getting a mendeola and LS. My 1997 M3 sedan is almost done, LS6/T56 swap. 5 seatbelts makes it a "family car".
