"but I love EM factory accessories.EddieB "
"They are better than LM factory accessories."

They must have been better than LM factory accessoies, as most of them became standard equipment on LM's hot smiley

Is that the lamp that would illuminate the radio dial?

That is the ash tray light. Same thing I show installed in my initial post here. Easy install. Just need to drill a hole in the ash tray housing.

No. The radio has its own light.

I am thinking the ash tray light is "hot" all the time (the lights are on)?
Whether the tray is open or closed.

connected to the IP lamp circuit, so yes. On when lights are on.

May not be worth the hassle to mount it to see the change in the ash tray at night. The contact tip fell off the wire, so I had to splice in one from another similar socket. Can't use LED bulbs in it. But it works.

Correct. On/off and dims with the IP lamps.

I've had the ash tray light on several Corvairs over the years. My "loaded" '65 AC Monza 4dr had it, for example.

I'm guessing it was part of one of the "Comfort and Convenience" packages as factory equipment while also being available for dealer installation.

Craig you are probably correct.

Useless as it is (for me), the ash tray light also ranks high as the accessory least likely to be noticed by ANYBODY except the owner lol.

That said, I'm an accessory fan and will install any light that the factory offered on my car. Trunk, engine, ash tray, courtesy lights (coupe), spot light, etc. It's all good. thumbs up

I love wing windows, especially when I was smoking cigarettes. Probably not so good to let them fly in California these days.
I still love wing windows for a little bit of ventilation, when I lower the window a tad in a modern car my hair gets tousled and it's hard to hear what my wife is saying.

At the risk of alienating those that have them, the extra little triangular bottle of windshield washer fluid seems a little odd. I never stopped to think if it was concentrated. Now maybe if it was Oldsmobile Jet Fluid...

I'm also not much for the fresh air off the top of the engine. Does anyone use that? In Minnesota I enjoy having HEAT or nothing at all.

Looking close at the label of the glass triangular window washer fluid bottle bottle... I believe it says it is also a gasoline de-icer……. If I recall correctly!eye popping smiley

Yep, Methyl Alcohol does well for getting water out of fuel. Of course, who needs it now with 10% alcohol already put in for us. They should label it "gasoline with gas line antifreeze already added"!grinning smiley

Yes, the triangle bottle is concentrated. Mix ratio on bottle. Not an accessory by itself, came with the washer accessory.

Craig adds: I was looking at the various washer concentrate labels used on Corvairs and it's funny how the story changed over the years. For a while they were saying it doubled as a bug-remover solvent. Later the second use was gas line de-icer, and later still it was labeled only with it's primary use: windshield washer concentrate. I wonder if it also cured acne?
