For the 1st year I owned the 68 I thought it was a speaker that didn't work and the knob under the dash was some sort of fader smiling smiley !!!

I can't imagine the Corvair guards overriding anything given their small size and location on the car.

The purpose is to prevent the other car's bumper from getting caught on the Corvair bumper. Yes, it is big enough to prevent the other car's bumper from falling into the hole behind the Corvair bumper in straight shots. Now a 30° offset angle hit.....eye popping smiley

I've had 3 LM's with the telescoping steering wheel.

A useless "bragging rights" option for me.

I just push it as far forward as it will go and leave it there.

I've wondered about that. I only have one '67 with tele column and I've never driven it.
I feel the same way about most tilt columns. The one in my truck is straight and never moves. Maybe some help when working under the dash.
I've never felt like any of my Corvair steering wheels needed to do any moving other than turning.

I love my tele wheel and USE it. Being 6' 3" the wheel hits my leg if down too far in town where I need to operate the clutch. Then out on the road I like the straight arm position and push the wheel in for that.

Of course a seat travel extender would cure that issue.

You could have surgery to make you the proper size for driving Corvairs. Money well spent.

Too bad I'm not too short, this would be easier (and cheaper):

vent windows work in conjunction with the kick vents. They work to extract air out of the car thereby increasing the flow from the kick vents. Works like an air plane wing, spoiler or sail boat sail. Causes low pressure spot just past the vent and draws air of the vehicle. smiling smiley

If you flip them all they way around, then they act like a "scoop"

useless "option" the license plate trim or the trim surround around the rear license plate area on an EM

The tele column is, for me, almost a necessity. Without it, I have to do a bit of a lambada to get my legs into and under the wheel, as it sits about an inch or two too far forward. Once in, I push the wheel to where I want it. Upon exiting, I flip the lever and pull it back again. Nope, to me, it's one of the Corvair's MOST useful options!

Now speaking of useless, the LM gas door guard tops my list. Plus it's ugly.

FYI - All the LM mono radios with the optional rear seat speaker came with a separate fader switch that took the place of the decorative dummy washer under the R/H knob that's used for tuning in the stations.

I wonder if ANYONE, EVER, bought a "Car top sleeper" for their Greenbriar?

Hey honey, let's sleep on the roof of the van! Ya What did you say???

Was there a weight limit? How strong is the roof anyway?

"Sure Honey. Driving with little Billy in the Car Top Sleeper is PERFECTLY safe."

The van-top sleeper tent was only intended for kids - too small for an adult. It was also never intended to be up while driving. Probably came with such instructions.

Found this nice little option wire package in my wire harness box. I don't know what I will do with it yet. Don't seem to be any available online. Might make a nice change illumination light for the Vair change holder in the dash.
