Tested mine for 60 or 70 miles today. Worked perfect.
They measure temperature at the sender. That is all they can do so it is the temperature at the valve cap which tells you pretty much nothing. I guess it gives you an approximate outside air temperature.

Wait for a LOW tire.... see if it heats up then....

It can't. The tire would have to get the wheel hot and that heat would have to transfer through the rubber valve stem to the sensor.
If it did some kind of pressure rise calculation you would have to set the initial temperature to give it a baseline so it wouldn't work without constantly resetting the temperature.

Magic tech that can read temperatures through a steel wheel and know which direction? Cool.

The same dash readout is used for both the external and the internal senders. I used the internal senders - similar to OEMs. They do read the internal temps - probably the temp of the air inside. This actually gives you an extra data point for reading the pressures. If one side of the car is in the shade until 11 AM, and the tires seem lower in pressure, the differences left-right in temps might tell you why. And if the tire runs low on pressure, the inside air temp will probably go up quickly. You can set alarms for both temp and pressure, so it might help.

Inside air temps would be useful information. I didn't know those Chinese systems ever came with internal sensors. I would rather have the internal ones.

What powers the sensors?
Can the sensors be places in the engine compartment for temperature readings?

They have coin batteries. They turn off with no pressure so you would have to provide that to make them work.

Good thought but that would still just give you outside air temp. The fan displaces the air so fast it doesn't heat up above the engine. It would work to see how hot the air gets after you shut off the engine. I guess you could run a hose from the valve stem on the spare to other places you want to monitor. I doubt too many people wanting to monitor such things also keep their spare in the back.

An EXCELLENT idea ! ! ! thumbs upthumbs up (IF they transmit that far?)
I had a flat on the center axle of a triple-axle 5th-wheel once.
Never even felt it, the other two axles carried the weight.
I had been cruising along the freeway getting really dirty looks from people passing me.
Finally a kind mother & daughter pulled up along side of me and let me know I had a flat tire on my trailer.
When I got off the road I discovered why I had gotten all of those dirty looks.
The tire was worn away down to the edge of the bead.
There was only about half an inch left before the rim would have hit the road. eye popping smiley
I found out why I received all of those dirty looks too.
The entire rear of the trailer was covered with BURNT RUBBER! hot smiley
If the road draft had blown it up onto the back of the trailer, then I guess it must have made a mess on the cars coming up behind me also. grinning smiley

The sensors in the caps are directly exposed to the air inside the tire.
If they measure pressure they can also measure temperature.

I'm sure they would be affected by the outside air temp as well, but still you should have a reference to work from.

These knuckleheads say that these are not compatible with Corvairs when I punch in the data. Duh a tire is a tire! Unless the pressure in the front tires does not fit their parameters. Go figger. eye rolling smiley Mike

Do you really expect a drop-shipper of Chinese trinkets to have a firm grasp on parts compatibility? Remember, these are the same folks selling radiator caps for air cooled cars and advertising "fits Corvair" in their fuzzy dice auctions.

Please keep the user reports coming on these and tell us where you purchased and which model. Monitoring my four trailer tires would be nice as long as it doesn't lead to false alarms every few miles on a long trip.
