October 66 Monza coupe 140 with air and oil bath.
What design screws should the engine seal retainer have?
Should the 140 with the oil bath have a chrome lid. The friend who has the car thinks it should have a black lid. All the original ones I have seen had the chrome lid regardless of oil bath

140's had the chrome air cleaner top lid.
Oil bath top lids were black.
66-69 engine retainer screws were the "top hat" design.

The design change for the retainer screws was January of 66 but I was curious if the LA cars had this change earlier than the Willow Run cars.
I was asking about the 140 air cleaner lid as to whether it would have the chrome regardless of oil bath or not.

Sorry Lee,...I don't know exactly when the LA change was,...maybe someone will chime in on that.

As far as I know,...the 140 air cleaner lid would have been chromed, regardless of oil bath or not.

Earlier than what, October of 66 or November of 65?

Mine is 4th week of February 1966, but I don't think that's as early as you wanted.

I have an LA built 66 Monza Coupe that is a time capsule stashed. I can try to get by the warehouse tomorrow and look at the screws. It’s an October 65 built 66

My turbo coupe is a 10b date code and convertible is a 11c date. Both LOS and both have 5/16 hex head screws with captive washer holding the seal retainers in place. Sorry about picture quality

Looking at the responses it seems the change over for LA cars was sometime in November?

Per Larry Claypool, all 140 engines came with the chrome lid. I asked him 2 conventions ago or so, regarding my 65 prior to Concours.

I had a 12B 66 Corsa. I don't remember it having any top hat screws for the seal retainers. It had a bunch of 5/16 head screws in a bag. But since it was a basket case, who knows.
