Avoid the "T" series of parts from Standard Motor Products. Those are the low-end line - from Standard. Quality matters if you are carrying coil charging current. If you are triggering an external box, you have changed the function of the points. If you do that (and they work okay for that), be sure to keep the points clean, because the normal current jump across the points is what keep the stock points systems clean. It is also what wears them out. A little bit of dirt on points can cause an issue if they are being used as a trigger, because they are carrying almost no current. This info came to me from two different electronics companies.

Back in the old days, thse numbers were for Standard Ignition Parts normal line of parts and came in red boxes:

DR-2240 points
DR-314 rotor
DR-438 cap
DR-90 Ignition Condenser

The Blue Streak Line of Standard Ignition Parts added an X suffix to the part numbers like this, and came in blue boxes, with the parts actually having blue color where possible!:

DR-2240X points
DR-314X rotor
DR-438X cap
DR-90X Ignition Condenser

And, oil pressure switch PS-15X

Forgot to answer question.

Yes, I use the Standard parts from Rock Auto. Echlin was a good line also, used to get them at NAPA.
