() Date: May 20, 2020 01:44AM There are a couple discussion showing how to mount to a transmission jack. I 0osted a couple myself early last year. A search will find it. Search for cradle. Holds the entire power pack, as it only goes under the oil pan area to bear on block. Skid plate bolt is removed to secure power pack to cradle.. Al, I have that same jack. Mounted the correct way, does that work for engine only removal, or just the entire powertrain? It almost seems like "wrong" would work for engine only removal, and "right" would work for the whole shebang. () Date: June 03, 2020 10:14AM David. It was used in both situations. Only difference was adjusting the longitudinal tilt. Less tilt with only engine, if I remember correctly. I will be pulling engine only out of the Monza vert next week, so it should be a refresher. Al Georgia Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 06/03/2020 10:15AM by Lane66m. () Date: June 07, 2020 03:56PM Pulled the 110 hp engine only out of the 64 Monza convertible today. I used the Harbor Freight transmission jack with Dave Motohead's engine cradle. I leveled the jack platform and jacked it up under the engine. Installed alignment pins in 2 hole in differential to guide engine off. Lifted car slightly and removed the mount. Remaining differential mounting bolts were removed. We slowly lowered the engine down and used a bottle jack and a 4x4 on the differential to tilt differential aft end down to faciliate separating engine from differential. We didn't have any issue with the snout, but we noticed someone had damaged it in a previous removal of the engine. Engine was separated and shaft slid back into the differential. Engine fully lowered and slid out from under the car. Final result = the engine was level (balanced) on the transmission jack. . Al Georgia Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum. |
