FOUND!! : Air Conditioning Condenser Decal
Posted by: whubbell ()
Date: August 30, 2019 03:27PM

I am working with a vendor to have the ‘61-‘65 Air Conditioning Condenser removal decal reproduced. We are looking for a reasonable portion of a surviving original decal to insure we have the correct font - do not need a complete decal (although that would, of course, be perfect).

Photo of decal attached (yes, I have photos, but not an actual decal):

You might think about contacting Clark's to see if they can be of any assistance since they already have several "Licensed GM Reproduction" decals available.
They may be able to guide you to a reputable vendor and help with any licensing requirements needed to reproduce these decals.

I have absolutely no clue. It would not hurt to inquire at Clark's.
Since it would have a Corvair connection, they may be willing to share information, or may even be willing to participate in the project so they could then add it to their list of available parts.

This was the best I could do previously if anyone remembers the thread. I know Bill will recall it.

I never was able to 100% duplicate the OEM decal with this thermal transfer label and have not run across another OEM version since.

I would have thought if it was, he would/could have said that to begin with.
I am neither a mind reader, or willing to "read between the lines", and guess.
Afterall, there is more than one "Vendor" in the world.

OK, so to be clear, my post was asking if somebody could provide me with an actual sample of the decal in some form. It was NOT a request for suggestions of whom to speak to regarding the project.

Thanks

I am NOT going to get into a pissing contest here but...
It appears that a sincere effort to make what I thought might be helpful suggestion was NOT welcome.
I apologize for making the effort, and any inconvenience this may have caused.
You may now continue your search.eye rolling smiley

I don't know about Clark's but sometimes vendors ask that their suppliers not make the relationship public or maybe Bill has other reasons. I don't think anyone was trying to piss anyone off here. I wasn't and I've never read anything from Bill that I thought was rude (unlike me).
Either way it seemed pretty obvious by his response that he was talking about Clark's and even if not the suggestion was made and noted.
When I make suggestions it is to attempt to be helpful (usually). If someone doesn't like it that's fine with me. I've had people tell me I was totally wrong and sometimes they were right. Fine by me and if I'm wrong I hope someone does tell me. If they just think I'm stupid that is fine too. I don't answer to them.
Life is too short to worry about what other people think about me.
Let's keep it light and fun. That is what this forum is all about isn't it?

Do any other vendors sell reproduced decals?

Yes, but I am not mentioning names, so I can stay out of this pissing contest.

Gosh. All I asked was if somebody had a decent decal they could provide so we could check the font to make an accurate reproduction. This thread totally morphed off topic and when I attempted to set it back on course suddenly it is a “pissing contest”??

If people don’t want to help me, that’s fine. But why can’t people at least stay on topic and try to be civil in the process?

This thread can now be closed. We found a decent sample of the decal and the production of the decal is going forward. I will post a review when it is ready.

Thanks.
