() Date: August 28, 2019 11:58AM That is really an outstanding job! ![]() Never having an Air Conditioned Corvair I have a 'silly question' to ask! Looking at the two electric fans mounted on the Condenser in the engine compartment I am wondering which way they blow? Do they "help" pull air into the engine compartment by pulling more air thru the Condenser or are they "blowing against the wind" trying to PUSH air thru the Condenser AGAINST the force of the incoming cooling air?? Inquiring minds (or what is left of one!) want to know! ![]() Thanks! Dale ![]() Dale E. () Date: August 28, 2019 12:18PM And, Inquiring minds would like to know, what aftermarket evaporator unit you used? Is that a stock GM condenser? 1961 rampside with a 65 / 67 110 engine, car four speed. 1965 convertible (SOLD) 1966 Custom two door/four door 180 Turbo. The fans are helping to pull air thru the Condenser, into the engine compartment. Mark Holmlund ![]() Re: Air Condition done Posted by:

() Date: August 28, 2019 02:13PM I bought the unit from Clark's,very happy with itas was the installer, said their attention to detail was awesome. Buster Tindel Gulfport Mississippi 65 Corsa 140 4 speed Re: Air Condition done Posted by:

Clark's sells the R134a condenser that I understand was originally sold by "Rusty" out of Texas. The original Corvair R12 condenser was a basic serial flow design with barbed hose fittings. The R134a condenser is a parallel flow design with "O" ring hose fittings. R134a is reported to not "give up" heat as well as R12. The parallel design means R134a flows at a slower rate through the condenser to enhance heat removal. Now new car condensers use rectangle tubes with multiple small channels inside each tube. Very efficient, but unfortunately when they get plugged up from a failed compressor the entire condenser must be replaced - the passages are too small to clean out with a flush. Edited 3 time(s). () Date: September 08, 2019 08:38PM How about a photo of the controls and the unit behind the dash? Also, is it noisy like the old under dash (knee knocker) units? Did you lose your glovebox in the process? Re: Air Condition done Posted by:
vairygood
() Date: September 09, 2019 09:12AM It is controlled (fan speed) by the original fan switch, has a separate knob for temp control by the evaporator.About half the glove box was lost,Clark's provided a smaller box that fits great.Noise wise the fan is all you hear and its not all that bad.No worse than any other fan on high. () Date: September 09, 2019 09:27AM Hmmm, my Clark’s unit did not come with a separate knob for temp control by evaporator nor was it mentioned in instructions. Maybe something new they have added. Can you post a photo of it. Steve Bakersfield,Ca 69 monza 110,4 speed #4593 Re: Air Condition done Posted by:

() Date: September 09, 2019 10:27AM That looks beautiful! So does the car. Hope your feeling better soon. I have had both knees replaced and it was best thing I ever did. () Date: September 09, 2019 12:02PM The temp control was added by my installer at no charge,he thought it should have one.Works great. The knee is coming along great,I can drive the automatics ,haven't tried the 4 speed yet. () Date: September 10, 2019 08:20AM After 5 'scopes on my left knee; I understand your comments! There are still days when the only car I can drive comfortably is my elderly Lincoln Town Car; with the seat raised and tilted to find the knee comfortable "sweet spot". I like and approve of the added temperature control knob; this was always a glaring sore spot on the Clark's kit for me. How 'bout some pics of the dashboard vents and A/C controls, pls? Re: Air Condition done Posted by:

() Date: September 10, 2019 02:58PM The temp control is a simple rheostat located by the evaporator. The glove box is about half size now.I have no problem with the knee clearance, the a/c is not in the way at all.
