O/T-Now That Was Good Service...USPS

Hung up the phone with Jeff at CA Corvairs around 10am.

Parts showed up at my door approximately 25 hours later.

Really only about 200 miles as the crow flies..but WOW.

The bucket seat side trim is exquisite...more later.

That is mighty impressive! Speaks well on Jeff at CA Corvairs too for getting it in their hands so quick.

So true!! It's the speed that the seller PHYSICALLY gets the item to a POST OFFICE

I live in the lower half of Alabama and when I buy from Clarks I always have them sent USPS. USPS is much faster than UPS for me .

Yup the USPS is faster than UPS and on small items they are less expensive.

I always get parts from Ca Vairs the next day, even when I order in the afternoon they are here by 12 the next day, Phil, those seat trims most likely came from me! I stripped all my seats and sent Jeff the Trim to have chromed! grinning smiley

I had a different experience. I purchased a flywheel, it was shipped usps. I arrived home and a box was leaning against my door! It was empty, with a mysterious white tape along the edge. I trust the shipper when he said it
Was packed, but granted it was not packed very well. Well, where did it leave me?
The seller was uncooperative and belligerent. And i suspect he shipped it uninsured. The USPS WAS TOTALLY useless, and it was a total dead end, how do you loose a 14 pound Frisbee? The lesson i learned is ask that expensive items are insured, and if you suspect damage/tampering go to the shipper immediately.
I have no experience with other shippers, but i now request ups.
Mike

Not Corvair pats but my worst experience was with UPS. Ordered a rowing machine that ships in two boxes. One box when delivered was so broken parts where actually hanging out. He rang the bell and ran. Company agreed to reship and it got here OK. They sent us a return label, I used the undamaged box and all their packing and had UPS pick it up. About 10 days later it shows up on our porch torn and with parts hanging out, apparently they don't read. Got a USPS label from the vendor and our postman picked up the approximately 40 pound box and it got back to the shipper.
Actually my worst shipping company experience was getting hit and run by a Fedex truck.

Normally the USPS is far superior then UPS and is a lot cheaper. Every once in a while there is a snafu with USPS. I sent a package from Pittsburgh to New Jersey and it took 2 weeks for my customer to get it. It wound up in Hawaii took a vacation and then send it back to the main land.

Thanks Phil!

We ditched UPS years ago. Poor service, claims refused and snarky union drivers.

Federal Express is faster and less expensive and rarely do we ever have a damaged or lost package.

USPS Prioritiy Mail is great too especially on dimensionally smaller orders.
All of our international goes by USPS as well.

BTW - the guy who ordered the flywheel wasn't from us.

The last two items I ordered from Amazon via UPS were packaged in a UPS padded mailer inside a USPS flat rate box.

You know it might be that USPS TV commercial Jeff was in.

We all know it pays to know the right people in high places.

Phil,
These are photo's of my most recent package handled by USPS.
I truly don't believe all this was the fault of the USPS as the package originated in France and was in route for about three weeks.
I bought it July 16th off of flea bay and it was delivered August 12th.
After looking at the packaging, and the original packaging for the item, I am truly surprised that it arrived without damage. It was still wet when it arrived.
IF I were concerned about retaining the original packaging, I might not be as happy but it is what it is.
YES I did give the seller POSITIVE Feedback. The way the package arrived had nothing to do with the seller and I didn't need to deal with a damaged toy.
