() Date: August 08, 2019 04:15PM Many, many Corvair people use those on the LM's because they are cheap and not difficult to mount with sheet metal screws. () Date: August 08, 2019 04:24PM Thanks! One other question: If it is mountable with sheet metal screws, is there anything else I need, like the accessories Amazon tries to sell me, or is this all I need? ____________________________________________ Eric C. () Date: October 09, 2020 02:18PM I used a GM 1969 Camaro front air dam on my 1966 Kelmark coupe and it fit well. I even used the end support brackets designed for the Camaro when mounting it on the Corvair and if memory serves, they worked out very well. 1962 95 F.C. () Date: October 09, 2020 02:41PM To be clear, people are using these to prevent damage to the car if you go through a dip in an intersection or get near a curb, right? Not for aerodynamic purposes ![]() Re: Does this fit on a LM Corvair? Thanks. Posted by:

() Date: October 09, 2020 03:14PM Absolutely for aerodynamic purposes...air under the car is the enemy. I'm pretty sure the "curb feeler" statements are being facetious. Because that kind of damage is what happens sooner or later. Re: Does this fit on a LM Corvair? Thanks. Posted by:

() Date: October 09, 2020 05:11PM Phil is CORRECT ! ! ! ![]() An Air-Dam on the front of a Corvair makes a big difference. A Deeper, aftermarket or custom one makes a HUGE difference ! ! ! I have a DEEP (4.75") Air-Dam on my Vert, and it is a world of difference over the narrow factory air-dam. But as Phil says, sooner or later, it does uh, "make contact" with something. () Date: October 10, 2020 06:52AM I use this style spoiler on my LM. Be aware that hard cone hits in autocrosses or parking block bumps can pull sheet metal screws out of the body work. My outer ends are bolted with fender washers on the backside (under the corner covers in the trunk that give access to the turn signal wiring). With this setup I've smacked a cone and broken the top flange off the spoiler, but did no more damage to the body. ________________________________________________________ Chandler Powder Springs, GA. ![]() 1965 Corvair Monza 110/4sp Coupe Re: Does this fit on a LM Corvair? () Date: October 12, 2020 09:54PM I mounted a 68 Camaro spoiler that came with the factory style mounting hardware. I installed it on my V8 car using the supplied parts. When I cut the front end for the radiator, I welded 1/4" metal rod around the scoop opening to reinforce the cut sheet metal, and since I removed all the reinforcing metal in the opening I also fabbed up a little brace that runs vertically from the bottom center of the air opening to the inner brace/sheetmetal that the trunk latch attaches to for additional strength. The spoiler is mounted similar to the Camaro, with the 3 braces modified to fit the Corvair body. The center brace attaches to the radiator cradle, which in turn is attached to the front frame rails. The outer braces attach to the bottoms of the frame rails, and the whole thing is super strong. 65 Crown Hardtop Huntsville, AL Attachments: ![]() Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum. |
