Ultravan #5

#532 IIRC I didn't get home with it until 1:15am after leaving at 4:30am. The truck worked great for unloading it from the owner's trailer. I did turn it around before heading home.
It has a small block Chevy but I'm not sure if it is the original 307. It also has a TH350 instead of a Powerglide. I haven't looked closely but I think they moved the V-drive forward for extra room. Neither of my 500s have an original powertrain so I'm not sure what stock looks like.
Picked up a nice '65 Monza 140/4-speed convertible too. No pictures of it yet.

I noticed on the title that he bought it from Fred Bozeman. I'm pretty sure one of my others used to belong to him also. Owen is the man for these kinds of things.
I worked on this deal for over a year the owner kept putting me off and even sold it to someone else at one point but the guy never came to pick it up. Came from near Bandera TX. The guy used to drive it to car shows and then parked it around 10 years ago.

If it does not have a Corvair power train then there is very little Corvair connection to me.

It's in the Ultra blood.
I wouldn't switch one that had Corvair power originally.

I'll email you some info about the ownership history.

Yes, Fred Bozeman also owned your #530. As far as I can tell, it was Fred that converted #530 from 307cid V8 to 4.3L V6, using a 1988 Blazer engine.

532 has dash A/C too! I wonder if that was Fred's work?

He didn't mention it in his 2005 FS ad. Unfortunately I don't have any interior photos for #530 until 2015, so no way for me to check.

How is the rear suspension done on the V8's? Regular trans and a solid axle with leaf springs? Little or no drive shaft? Used the Corvair transaxle?

V8 UVs have the engine & transmission backwards (fan in rear, transmission fwd), running into a marine V-Drive, which sends power back to a Corvette rear axle. The suspension is a trailing arm with Corvette hubs & brakes. Not sure if the half shafts are fixed length or telescoping like on the Corvair UVs.

They are fixed length to insure binding.
