F/S: '64 FC Powerglide Transaxle
Posted by: WhenIm64 ()

For Sale: 1964 FC Powerglide Transaxle. 3.55:1 ratio, with the provision for the FC-specific transmission cooler. forsale

“Ran when parked.” It was removed from a rusty ‘64 Greenbrier that was driven to its final resting place. I know nothing about this transaxle except for what I can see. I removed the top cover and looked inside. It looks good, and I drained all the old gear oil and put in fresh, and I drained all the old ATF and put in fresh. But I can offer no warranties of any kind.

Gotta reduce the amount of “stuff” I have. Price is $175 delivered to the 2019 CORSA convention in St Charles, IL (Monday, July 22, or Tuesday, July 23, only), or $150 picked up at my home in NJ.

PM or contact me directly, vairtec(at)optimum(dot)net.

Does it have the notch in the bottom for the transverse leaf spring?

I know Greenbriers don't use a TL spring, but it would be open the sale up to more people.

Dan, yes, the diff has the provision for the transverse leaf spring, as did all '64 FCs even though the spring was not used. --Bob

Bob,

I am interested in the trans and diff. Do you have a cooler you would sell?

Hi Bob, how about the matching torque converter FOR THIS transmission? (It only adds another 50 pounds). Thanks.

Titus, sorry, I do not have a cooler available.

Timothy, yes, I do have the matching torque converter, although it is still stuck on the engine as of today... If I am successful in removing it this week, I'll include it.

Interestingly... the 1965 FC's with automatic, the dif cases also had the boss's for the Late struts... Late dif case! Even tho they had the speedo drive pinion shaft gear teeth and were bored out for the Fc speedometer cable drive unit.

Interesting stuff!eye popping smiley

The 65 FC diff. I used to have had the 4 bosses for the late struts (along with the speedo hole) but the bosses were NOT drilled and threaded. Like Dave mentions, "interesting stuff". I believe the ring gear carrier was 6 bolts but I would have to ask Dale D. if this is true.

Would have liked to have had that '65 diff case with the strut bosses on it. Could have possibly used it on my project car for a cruise control attachment. But am going to mount it in-line with the speedo cable under the dash.

That's what I did. Allowing for 2" more cable length was interesting.

Tim Shortle, here's the torque converter, it came off the engine easily, without a struggle, much to my surprise -- most of 'em put up a fight.

It will be included with the transaxle for any buyer.

UPDATE: As it turns out, I am not able to attend the convention, so I can't deliver it there. However, I WILL be attending the Detroit Homecoming in August, so I can deliver it there.
