The only downside to having a rollback readily available, is that it is simply to convenient to drag anything home at the drop of a hat.
The Malibu however, looks like you may have been able to drive it home.
I have noticed over the past decade or two that sedans have become a bit more popular. I guess it is a way to keep growing families involved in the hobby.thumbs up

Joel:

Time for a group shot with the other classics and use it in your signature line. Nice looking car. Has the appearance of an oversized Vair.

I do like the tail. I've always wanted this body style Malibu. I don't see many around at all.

I did drive it home.

I'm sure the wheel covers will fly off the first time I turn a corner. They don't have much grip.

It was actually the guys grandfather. He bought it new and the guy and his dad rebuilt it. He gave me a copy of the original sales sheet. Less than $2500 new.

Yes, owning a rollback and 5 acres is dangerous.

Hey, its not a Vair, you won't be taking corners that fast. VBG

Wow! AACA ready! HPOF , DPC or full point judged event, you are golden.smileys with beer

You do not see these here on the east coast without rust, usually.sad smiley

Interesting that in 1966 the 250 cu in six was only available in the full sized cars. But you could have a 194 or 230 in the Chevelle or the Chevy II, then move up to a 283 or bigger V-8.

I think this was available with a 283 or 327 in several different hp ratings.

All it needs is a "Period Correct" knee knocker air conditioner added.

My dad bought a new '66 Malibu wagon and kept it for several years. Just happened that I was learning to drive about that time. He did buy the small V-8, but with the sludgebox two-speed auto on the tree. I drove it into the ditch once when I didn't straighten up after turning a corner. LOL Fortunately no damage, as it was at low speed.

Unlike my older brother, who came home one night with a crumpled left front fender (behind the wheel well) on dad's beautiful '57 Chevy Bel Air 4 door hardtop. Loved that car and he crunched it!angry smiley And rather than fix it, dad traded it off. For a '54 Chevy with that anemic stovebolt garden tractor powered engine and sludgebox sourglide AND vacuum wipers. For ME to drive! Stupid car would get its doors blown off by a VW Beetle! And don't EVEN get me started on its biggest horror, those infernal vacuum wipers!tongue sticking out smiley PUKE!

But back to the '66 Chevelle. Never cared for the front corners, with the grill cutback in it. Preferred the '67 as a nicer looking front end. Even the '67's taillights were prettier OMHO. Would love to have a '67 Malibu 4 door hardtop with the luxury decor (or trim) package. Now THERE is a beautiful car!

But glad you like your 4 door sedan. Just be glad it's got 4 doors, as it could have been a two door sedan!

-Mark
