Isn't that done by adjusting the front end alignment? Re: ![]() ![]() Posted by:

It can mean that your steering is out of alignment. However, the car tracks straight with hands off the wheel and I think I remember the previous owner mentioning something about taking the wheel off at some point (probably to replace turn signal switch, because the wires look fresh), so I reckon he didn't put it back on right. Matt, that is good info. Thanks. do you mean the forward end, where it goes into the steering box, or the aft end, where the steering wheel goes? Re: ![]() ![]() Posted by:

() Date: February 01, 2020 08:14PM My wife and I bought our first Corvair a handful of months ago. Today was the first time I was able to stretch its legs for a longer distance trip (90 miles total). We had a 110 rebuilt by CA Corvairs and it ran beautifully. The first picture was taken from a passenger in the car next to us on the freeway. My brothers and their familes met up with us at a car show in a nearby city. All the nieces and nephews wanted to ride home with me. It was a really fun time with the family. The only bummer is how thirsty my FC was. It sucked down a full tank (mine has the hole for the shifter, so I think thats 16.5 gal) for a 90 mile trip. So I think it's tuned a little rich or FC just get bad gas mileage. ![]() ![]() Brace Helton 1962 6-door Greenbrier. 110hp 4 spd Lancaster, Ca ![]() Re: ![]() ![]() Posted by:

() Date: February 02, 2020 12:25AM Great to see a family enjoying the same thing! You are right about mileage... Look at the tailpipe and ONE easy to get to spark plug.. No catalytic convertor so Tail pipe black and sooty... way rich Spark plug..same thing... But are you sure your ODOmeter is correct? Take a nice flat Freeway drive for 50 miles and recalculate. and look at the taiplipe again. should clean up and possobly turn dark grey. () Date: February 02, 2020 08:01AM Agreed, but I really need to start a new topic about this (my reasons for not doing so are included in said PM) but since we're addressing in the public forum, its because I need to make some calls to CA Corvair on Tues when they open before I have all information needed to make a fully informed write-up. Long story short so no one is left out: - Previous onwer swapped gauges for a Spyder cluster. Nothing works except tach. No fuel level, speedo, nothing. - Left gas station by my house with topped off tank. - Drove to car show and back (phone GPS claimed 45 miles one way) - Arrived at home literally on fumes. Car cutting out and a knock on the bottom gas tank revealed it to be dry. (which I forgot to mention in said PM to matt) - Tank and sender is new from CA Corvair, but I got the 63ish and up tank with hole for shifter though mine doesn't need the passage through tank. - Need to figure out ohm range (0-30 or 0-90) from Ca Corvair so I can buy a temporary fuel gauge. Like the tunnel visioned chap that I was, I did not stop and test the sender before installation with my multimeter. My bigger goal was to get my new rebuilt engine back in and running (hence the tunnelvision). Thats all of the relevent details for now. Thanks all, I love this forum!
