I just picked up a 66 convert and was looking to put some Creager SS wheels and some radial TAs on it. What is a good size of wheel and tire for this car ?

Personally, I am running 205/60/15 tires on Chevrolet Corvette Rallye Wheels.

A 7" wheel is plenty for 205 tires.

7" you can get away with 3-1/2 or more

Rear doesn't matter..

You can go up to a 4.5" backspace to maximize fender lip clearance althought it's not common in off the shelf wheels.

I run 14" wheels for a better ride on convertible and BFG makes the TA in 14" sizes. Note you can run a 205/70X14 on a 6" rim and 7" is about the max for a 205 tire.

I run 205/70X14 front - 235/60X14 rear on 7" wide Rally wheels. Steers and rides good.

Thanks foe all the input on my question. I ended up going with a 15 x7 Cragar ss wheel with a 4-inch back spacing. Cal Corvairs recommended BFG Tas 215-60 for the front and 225 60 for the rear, Looks great, just a slight rub on the right front when I turn left .No rub on the left side.I think I should have stayed with the 205 -60 on the front. I have pictures on my phone and will post before and after shots when I figure out how to do that.LOL
