Empty trailer from Washington, Idaho, Montana going to the Chicago convention?
Posted by: scottymac ()

As the caption states, looking for an empty trailer that could pick up alphasud's '65 Corsa body in Plummer, Idaho, and transport it to the St. Charles, Illinois convention in July. Will reimburse (or prepay) your fuel, David has said he will make the car a roller so it can be winched on a trailer. If you're headed this way before the convention, that might even be better, wouldn't have to ask David to store the shell longer, just PM me and we'll see what can be worked out.

I should probably clarify, I'll pay your fuel costs from wherever you leave in those three states TO the convention, NOT round trip. I know how you Corvair owners think!

And Joel, if I find a ride first, you can send a trailer to Indiana to pick up my basket case Corsa, which would donate its roof and drivetrain to David's shell. I would've thought you had enough rust free bodies already? Leave some to us poor Midwesterners!

LOL. Not much in rust free LMs.
I'm not really expecting a response. I've asked many times and never had it happen. Maybe someday.
If I was going somewhere empty I would haul for someone here.

Anyone going to pick up a car somewhere usually goes one way empty. I always do.

You're probably right, Mel, but what better place to buy a show winner than the national convention? Hopefully, enticement of free fuel will nudge someone. A guy can always hope!

Yes, I understand that.
I was just pointing out that there are VERY FEW who would be going your way.

I think that most here would do the same, but not many are running around the country picking up cars from long distances. This is affirmed by the high number of requests for info on reputable and affordable transport companies.
When I used to be involved with Transporting, we usually charged $1.oo to $1.50 per mile.
What most people forget to consider when it comes to transporting, is it is not just about the fuel involved, but also the tires, oil changes, other vehicle maintenance, AND as someone else already brought up, HOTELS.
