Front Shock snubbers

We've installed new gas shocks on the front. There is no provision to use the "snubbers" from the old shocks. Are the snubbers for bottoming out issues?

Do the new shocks have a pin mount at the top? The old snubbers should slide down over it - in place of the washer and small bumper that usually come with shocks. I don't understand what "no provision" means.

It has an upper and lower bushing as all front shocks do. If I could get the snubber off the old shocks, probably would not go over the welded ring for the lower bushing. What exactly is the purpose of the snubber?

It is the bottom out bumper. You need them since it is the only bottoming provision. I had to grind the shock shaft stop a little on the last new pair I installed. If you buy new shocks from Clark's they come with the little mounts. You have to buy the big bumpers separately.

Use a Razor knife / Box cutter

Install on new shock... Shock tower captures them.

We took the front shocks off and then used a vise to get the bump stops off the old shocks. They were off in one minute. Put them on the new shocks and re-installed. Thank you everyone for your help.

Same here. Takes some muscle and lubricant to pull them off but they come off.
