() Date: May 06, 2019 08:51PM Regarding the arms. I had never driven anything with quick-arms before, so I was not sure just what to expect. I did notice it requires just slightly more effort. But not much really. As for "Quick Steering"? It did not feel any quicker per se, but what I did notice in the little driving I have now done with them (about 5 miles around our curviest roads) is that I found myself entering these familiar curves with the same amount of steering that I usually do, and then backing off because I am tighter into the turn than I need/want to be. -+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+- WA. state, 1 mile south of the Canadian border, I am not at the end of the world, but you can see it from here. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Re: TAKING ORDERS!! 5/5/19 New Quick Steering arms-- Different than any others. () Date: May 06, 2019 09:37PM Mel, You might want to check how many turns of the wheel from full left to full right. Stock Corvair is 5 turns I think. Factory quick steering box and arms are 3.25 turns lock to lock. I have a set of John Fitch steering arms to install in the 67 coupe. () Date: May 09, 2019 07:05PM Thanks John, my turns are correct. I just have never driven a car with quick arms and was kinda expecting a more dramatic change. The car drives the same, just less steering input is needed to go where you want it to go. I have 15" Corvette Rallye Wheels on my car. The offset/backspacing is not what most consider to be correct for our cars. It is off by about .5" I think it is. The makes for a full 1" difference from stock when both sides are added together. Now I am wanting them for the Coupe! -+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+- WA. state, 1 mile south of the Canadian border, I am not at the end of the world, but you can see it from here. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Attachments: ![]() ![]() Re: TAKING ORDERS!! 5/5/19 New Quick Steering arms-- Different than any others. () Date: July 06, 2019 02:03PM I recently installed a set of Matt's steering arms on my Stock 67 110 PG Coupe. The car has a rebuilt front suspension. All components from Clarks. I am running 15x7 Wheels with 205/60-15 tires. The backspace im running with this setup is 4.75 The steering box has been adjusted also. Following Matt's instructions, the arms were basically a straight forward install. Once I got everything installed and adjusted the Toe I took the car for several test drives. Since the install, I have put 96 Miles on it with combined twisty New England back roads, city roads and Highway with speeds up to 90 MPH. The car handles everything very well. Corners are tighter and the cars handling feels more responsive. The turning radius and lock to lock are greatly reduced. I have not noticed any wheel scrubbing or any significant increase in steering effort. I had my wife drive it and she came to the same conclusion as I did. Overall I would say Matt has produced a very good product. My only issue is due to the lack of a steering stop, and depending on your tire and wheel size you may get a tire rub on a hard full turn to one side or the other. This is an easy fix which I will be addressing shortly. Re: Quick Steering arms-- Different than any others. And Adjustable Posted by:

() Date: November 17, 2019 03:02PM I bought a set and installed 2 weeks ago. They went on my 65 Corsa with no problems. Very happy with them! They make the turning radius so much shorter and much more responsive steering! Thanks Matt! () Date: March 14, 2020 11:40AM Just installed my steering arms and hit a snag - the arm brings the tie rod end too close to the rim and it rubs, but only the passenger side, and just slightly. I tried to grind the tie rod end a bit since the casting was sloppy, but its not quite enough - I may get more daring after typing this. Is there "small head" tie rod ends avail, or some other style that would give me some clearance. I'm only looking to gain little clearance. I'm running a 15 x 7 wheel, not sure of the offset. () Date: March 14, 2020 03:12PM Use another spacer on that side for testing.. really shouldn't make a difference in "feel". MODERATOR Sea Mountain, between Charleston Harbor and Coos Bay! () Date: March 14, 2020 03:48PM I just picked up 4 3/8" thick bushings which would add 1/8" compared to having the provided spacers. I can add in additional 1/8" spacers as necessary. I'll get in there tomorrow AM to try it. Thanks! Ken kenzen 66 Monza Coupe 110/PG Bel Air, MD Re: Quick Steering arms-- Different than any others. And Adjustable Posted by:
