I used tubes on my side-shifter conversion. (Corvair engine in stock location) The only issue I had was bouncing. If you dampen their up-down movement, the tubes should work well. I would use cables in any new install.

Been trying to get the adapter done, waiting on the machine to open up. I finally got it in the machine but ran out of time tonight to finish it. Maybe I can get it done by next week.

I had some free time, so why not build a billet front support. Made 1 out of 6061 alum. the other is 1018 steel.

Steel one. This one started at 28 lbs. Will end about 1 lbs.
