It is a generous thing for CORSA to help support scholarships to college. Such outside funding really makes a difference for some students to be able to pursue their degrees. I'm glad our association does this.

I would encourage in the future to consider allowing currently enrolled college students to apply as well, not just high school seniors. As a 30-year student financial aid professional I can attest that there are many scholarships for graduating high school seniors, but fewer for continuing college students. As such a lot of students come straight out of high school with good funding for college through receipt of special one-year awards, but in their second year they have less funds available to help them continue in college. Some borrow more loans or work more hours than they should, while others can't come up with the money needed and drop out.

It is just a thought I offer that expanding the potential pool for our scholarships can increase the level of awareness and interest in CORSA, plus potentially help a student afford to stay in school (retention) as well as consider new high school seniors to start college (recruitment).
