O/T-Trout For Life
Posted by: Phil Dally ()

If you a baseball fan you know immediately what I mean.

If you're not a fan you still probably know his name.

The twelve year $426.5 million extension is official.

The biggest ever contract for the best ever player.

Reaction across MLB...he deserves every penny.

Still will be a couple down years for my Halo.

But we have a foundation to build a dynasty.

Angels are a Free Agent destination team.

HALO POWER BABY!!!

I love Baseball and I live Baseball. I really have no favorite team, they are all fun to watch, but there AIN'T no ball player worth that much money.

The man is obviously talented and a leader among the players, but not that much.

I knew somebody would complain about the money...it is huge.

With Mike it goes way beyond the numbers...he is a top quality person

I personally only care about what happens out there between the white lines.

It ain't a complaint.
It is a SAD statement about our values as a society!
We have School Teachers buying teaching supplies with their own money, VS guys who only work rather PLAY a game a small portion of the year, who are getting paid $38,000,000 for that time ? ? ?
Hey, if the guy has the power to negotiate that kind of contract, more POWERwinking smiley to him.
Where is that money coming from?
Advertising, of course.
Stadium gate admissions don't even begin to cover the cleaning crew for the Ball Park.
Its a mixed-up world we live in! hot smiley

I remember when baseball was a sport, today it is nothing but big business.

Quote

In light of MLB’s first regular season pitch on March 29, Bloomberg Tax analyzed travel schedules for the highest-paid players in each of the MLB’s six divisions to illustrate the tax burdens at stake:
• Mike Trout (Los Angeles Angels, American League West): $34 million salary; pays $245,143 in jock taxes
• Clayton Kershaw (Los Angeles Dodgers, National League West): $34 million salary; pays $329,176 jock taxes
• Miguel Cabrera (Detroit Tigers, American League Central): $30 million salary; pays $583,251 in jock taxes
• Jake Arrieta (Philadelphia Phillies, National League East): $30 million salary; pays $563,454 in jock taxes
• David Price (Boston Red Sox, American League East): $30 million salary; pays $430,274 in jock taxes
• Jon Lester (Chicago Cubs, National League Central): $27.5 million salary; pays $570,230 in jock taxes
Taking into account federal and state income taxes, as well as other fees, each division’s highest-paid player walks away with an average of 51.3 percent of his original salary.

Something to think about while nurturing your resentments.

A very large percentage of Mike's new contract will be donated.

To numerous charities both here in CA and back in his home state NJ.

Unfortunately all most people can see is the big number...that is sad.

Hey, I love Capitalism. If a guy can get 38 million for playing a game I say great. It is not like he is going to stuff that money in a big room and roll around in it like Scrooge McDuck.
I personally don't care for sports, but then again I don't care for music either. In my opinion these people should stop making noise and get a real job. However, I do like Capitalism so if they can find someone to pay them to make that awful noise then more power to them.
I try to walk the middle of the road in life. I don't "Hate" anyone or anything, I have never been envious of anyone and I see some people that take sports or entertainers too close to idol worship for my taste. Moderation in all things except love.

Baseball is my favorite sport by far, die hard Cub fan since 1968. Trout is definitely a once in a lifetime talent. To think 12 teams (I think) passed on him in the draft....

Not a fan of sports either. Waste of time sitting around watching tv for 4 hours several times a week. Used to watch NASCAR, but finally gave up the pretty boy money making "sport. Rather watch some movies and documentaries when I need rest time from garage and yard time.
