Decided to fix an oil leak and check head torque because of a leaky head gasket and look what I found.

So how far is that into the o-ring surface? Kinda puzzling how that broke out unless it was a casting flaw.
Not something fun to find. Me? Unfortunately, I would change the head.

I think the O-ring ends up BELOW that....

Isn't that rocker really loose, as well? No threads showing. I could be totally wrong.

Exhaust manifold stud driven in too far?
Is the one on number 6 cylinder bad also?
It looks kinda funny, or is that just burnt oil and crud built up on there?

It is bad also. That is a failed repair you are seeing. They both had the exhaust studs driven in too far at some point in the past.
It is broken into the o-ring area.

I already replaced the O-rings on #2 and haven't adjusted those yet so yes they are loose.
If you look closely #6 guide plate isn't against the head. It doesn't show up well in the shadow. Both rocker studs were loose but the studs were tight in the block. I'll find out tomorrow afternoon if my silly cone repair worked. I'll give it the full 24 hours to cure.

All pookeyed up.
Actually I added more after I took the picture to cover the previous stud hole repair.
Now that I'm thinking about it I should have just put some TIG juice on it and ground it back to shape. I guess I'll do that when I pull the head. All the exhaust guides are shot. #2 has about 1/8" of play. I think that is a little outside of maximum.

They came out of a really old sealed envelope with the Clark's viton part number. Is there a way to tell if they are really vinton? Brown is just coloring.

Viton used to be Black. May still be available in that color. That may well be a vaaaaary old set from Clarks. I would think their still ok.
