Thanks, Will! grinning smiley

When bought the car I almost pasted out when I saw the 'original' wiring!

The more I looked the less I liked it so I redid the whole thing! There are 3 Harnesses there. One is for Ignition (the BIG MIL connector), one is for LIGHTS (small MIL connector on the right side of the picture), and one you cannot see on the left side carrying the 'data' (Oil Press, Oil Temp, Overheat Switch, Low Oil Press Switch, and Tach) to the Dakota Digital VHX Control Box located behind the rear seat. It feeds my Custom Dash Instrument Display!

The Battery + Lead goes to the 200 AMP Feedthru Lug. The Starter and Fuseblock feed connect to the 'bottom' of that Lug!

I am still working at the 'backside' (engine compartment) on upgrades. At some point I hope to work forward!!!

Fun, Fun, Fun!!!

My solution to the big RED wire problem. Had a similar issue on the motor home. Connect the plug bypass wires to the red wire on each side of the terminal block. Solder, or crimp connection, your choice. Then leave the red intact and plug and unplug this connector as needed.

The LLV truck body is made from corrosion-resistant aluminum, weighs 3,000 pounds

But:
1961 & 1962 FC

Curb Weight-Corvan ................2805 1bs.
Green brier .......................3005 lbs.

Engine transplant might work. Could be noisy if not done right. You know Government didn't spend money for sound proofing these trucks.

My "temporary" fix for the '65's power connector was a quick zip-tie around both halves to simply hold them together more securely until I could replace it, or fix it better.

But as I like to say, "it's only temporary. Unless it works!" so the zip-tie is still there doing it's job very well thank you.

Unless your locking tabs are broken, I don't see how that helps the common problem, the metal connectors over heat and loose spring tension that helps them make contact.

Here's how I took care of the same problem, even though earlys don't have the HRPT, they can certainly benefit from a proper wire distribution box when a alternator is used. The black box to the left of the battery and alternator connects the alternator, battery, and main power feed to the front of the car.
It has a additional connection point within the box that is unused, and when
I put it in, was planning on using that extra spot for feeding a relay for water injection, and that was one of the reasons for locating the box there.
These boxes are available from Ron Francis wiring, and come in a number of different lengths. I really like these because once all the wires are connected, the top is snapped shut, leaving no exposed connections.
