() Date: February 04, 2019 06:46PM You see how tastes vary. What's acceptable to one is not to another. I'll begrudgingly accept AZDave's cars, though they're still a bit much for me. That said, I have to agree with American Mel. Keep it at least with a little bit of sanity. And nothing that isn't bolt-on, so that the next owner can undo it if he doesn't like it. May I suggest taking this to my other thread? OT - what's the most ridiculous/ugly car/wheels combo you've ever seen? -Mark Re: Tire size for 17x8 wheels on a LM Posted by:

() Date: January 12, 2021 02:13PM Adding info to this 17 x 8 wheel thread for future searchers since I successfully tried another 17 x 8 combo on a LM Corvair. Specs 17 x 8 BBS forged 14-spoke rims from a 2001-2006 Mitsubishi Lancer/Evo 7/8/9, rim offset +37mm, 17 pounds rim weight, back space is 6" and center bore is 67mm. Mitsu part 4250A866 or MN184113. 245/40 ZR17 rubber all around. Tires weigh 20# each. 1" thick adapter/spacer in use to convert the 5 x 4.75" Corvair bolt pattern to the 5 x 4.50" (5x 113.3mm) rim pattern. This brings the back space to 5" and the offset to 12mm. These rims use mag wheel type lug nuts with flat washers (no cone seat) so I used hub-concentric rings to be sure the wheel remains centered on the adapter since they do not locate on the spacer hub and the mag style lugs are not self-centering. I made the hub-centric rings myself and the adapter/spacers were $85 delivered from Amazon that I had from a prior project. Rear tire clearance is no issue at all but the front is tight on the passenger side. As the steering wheel is turned the tire edge is very close to the front lip at the forward edge of the fender. Depending on your wheel alignment you could get a slight rub there. Steering effort is higher with the wider rubber and note the car car is at stock height on old OEM springs. I use this car as a test bed so I may lower the front one coil to see if that causes any issues. Pics show them on my 66 Monza. ![]() ![]() ![]() Dave W. / Gilbert Arizona 65 Corsa 140/4 66 Corsa 140/4 66 Corsa 140/4 w/factory A/C 66 Corsa 455 Toro V8 65 Monza Convertible 110/4 66 Monza Convertible 140/4 A/C 65 Monza 4DR 140/PG w/factory A/C 65 Monza 4DR EJ20T/5 ![]() Attachments: ![]() ![]() Re: Tire size for 17x8 wheels on a LM Posted by:
