The problem with women is that it can cost a lot more to send them away, then it cost to acquire them. I once said to a girlfriend, "I will buy you a car, I will buy you a home, but I will never marry you. I cut my losses at the beginning of the relationship rather than at the end of the relationship."

She dumped me before I got too involved. I was the winner! My wife and I have been together for about 42 years, and married for 32. I was in no rush for a lifetime commitment.

Thanks Matt, couldn’t get it to load on my iPad, but it finally came through on my phone, which is surprising, as I live in a cellphone dead zone.

My family sold our ‘58 Vette with Mecum a few years ago, and I’d have to say my only complaint here with this auction is the fact that they rolled the car off the platform so quickly. They usually have a tendency to keep cars that they weren’t expecting crazy money for on the platform, at least Barrett Jackson does. It’s not everyday that you see any Corvair bringing serious money like this.

But watching this makes me very happy to own one of those lowly ‘67 Stingers.

Looking close at that engine bay, I am not fully familiar with Stingers. 1) Did Yenko Stingers use the stock fuel pump? 2) WHAT IS WITH THAT OIL PRESSURE SENDER RISER???!!!!! *SNAP...GUSH!!!"

I watched the NBC Sports broadcast and they ended their live coverage at 7:00 PM CST before YS074 was auctioned. Then last night there was the broadcast from 7:00 PM on, but again the Stinger was auctioned during a commercial break.

Thanks to Matt's live stream link, I was able to watch the live auction. I am curious who the winning bidder is.

Congrats to seller and buyer.

Good news for everybody. Value of all those replicas/wanna be/tributes, etc are now worth how much more. Like real Shelby roadsters vs reproductions. Right?

Not really, I see it more as 2 bidders with the hots for this specific example. One of them got it, the other didn't and will move on to something else.

Meaning the next Stinger in equal condition may sell for only half the price or less. For me, this sale was The Perfect Storm. Maybe Jay Leno could sell his Stinger for the same or more, but I really doubt the next one will go for anything close. After all, the fair market guess was around 65K and it went for more than 3 times that??? Auction fever no?

Could it be the Jay Leno Yenko effect?

I agree here. I spoke with one of Hagerty's Valuation guys and we agreed this sale is unlikely to be replicated anytime soon.

Remember- One sale does not set a market.

IMHO, More is becoming known about the entire biography of Don Yenko and his passion for racing and performance cars.
Several books in recent years have told the story of the development of the Stinger concept. The beginning of the Yenko Legend.
His connections to the right people at GM were most important in creating the environment for him to take the plunge and order 100 Corvairs with the vision of making them his own brand of race car.
This was a monumental experiment with an incredible amount of money/credit/financial risk put into ONE dream.
The fact that he pulled it off is what makes Don Yenko Legendary among Performance car enthusiasts.
I don't find it too surprising that two rich enthusiasts would want a piece of that dream in their collection.
One of them got it!

This holds especially true if a Stinger was the only model that was lacking from an otherwise complete collection of ALL Yenko Performance car models.

Was asked by a member, about my comments, re: the Yenko preview video, I was referring to. Seems nobody saw it, or maybe they did. This is a link to the video I saw on the Mecum Facebook page.
The footage of the engine compartment had me asking, questioning, puzzled...N-Joi.

Yeah, there is a pipe coming up from the stock OP switch position which splits to accept the switch and a sender for an OP gauge as well.
Fuel pump is Factory style plumbed into the two feed lines to the Weber IDA/3s
