Are Corvair owners cheap or just ingenious?
Posted by: azdave ()

This photo was included in an ad for a $10,000+ 63 Spyder on Craigslist. Now I feel foolish for paying big bucks for a nice center console with cup holders. This one does the same job and is free when you purchase 2-3 drinks at a drive-thru.

I'll probably do a write-up soon showing the mods required to complete the install. grinning smiley

Black Plasti-kote paint it and it would look like original equipment from the 60s.

While I won;t fault the owner for coming up with a way to keep thier drink from spilling, I am often amazed at people who want top-dollar for their car but won;t take the time to remove stuff like this and vacuum the floor.

X2 ! ! !
It is AMAZING what a couple hours of detailing can do to a car's curb appeal, and yet so few understand this and do it.

That'actually a great idea build it out of good material and a bit taller so it'll actually keep drinks from turning over. I like it.

Might take more than detailing to get his $10K but who knows? I also noticed the shift knob is for a 3-speed but listed as 4-speed.

It is a 4-speed shift lever.
I love the cup holder! Easily replaceable when it gets dirty too.
If we were that cheap no Clark's ultimate oil pans, valve covers, PG pans or differential covers would ever be sold. Not to mention thermistors...
I did buy 20 master cylinders when RockAuto was selling them for $10.

I was speaking in general terms, about most cars for sale.
I have not even looked at his ad.
It is just shocking to me how many CL ads have McDonalds or BK wrappers strewn all around the floor of a car, with an ashtray full, and mud splashed halfway up the sides of the exterior, all while desiring Full Price that a premium dealership would be selling the car for.
Where are these people's brains?
