Collector car auction season in Phoenix!
Posted by: azdave ()

You can tell when all the collector car auctions are happening again in Phoenix by watching all the asking prices for cars on Craigslist jump.

This 64 Monza has been listed for awhile at $5500 with no taker. Today it jumped to $7500. This is the car that forum member Bill Graham and myself helped Ed rebuild after a major engine fire on the day he bought it in LA and tried to drive it straight home to Phoenix on the interstate.

The car was sold some years ago when Ed moved back to France. Maybe this seller is clueless and really doesn't know how all of the paint flaked off (but I bet they do).

They even go so far as to claim it is in near perfect cosmetic condition.

"Where else can you get a gorgeous convertible Chevy, from the early 60's, thats in near perfect cosmetic and perfect mechanical condition"

[phoenix.craigslist.org]

Seller says this is "patina". I beg to differ.

No but he should say that in the ad and then maybe he would get his asking price! grinning smiley

This car burned long before that commercial came out. Here is Ed's thread from 2012 on CorvairForum.

Maybe you should make your own "AD" on CL, with a link to the Corvair Forum thread!

I've seen people do that and it's pretty funny to see the facts revealed by a previous owner or someone who went and looked at the car.
