() Date: January 08, 2019 06:12PM it isn't without destroying it, unless a locksmith has some trick. key code off door lock cylinder should match ignition so perhaps a good locksmith can make a key from the code. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Avid Corvair hobbiest since 1984. () Date: January 08, 2019 07:48PM Right, door and glove box lock were the same code (and trunk) when the car was new. Of course things get changed sometimes. Ignition cylinder captures screw on ring to prevent easy car theft. Try every B10 blank (any GM car from 1935 to 1966) you can find and see if any allow the ignition cylinder to turn CCW, then insert paper clip and continue turning CCW. Cylinder comes out and the 4 digit code can be used by a locksmith to make new keys. I also can make them, but mail is slower than local locksmith. To all, make sure you have TWO keys to every car you own! ![]() Locksmith opening lock is cheaper than destroying the lock and ring then having to rekey new cylinder to match. And taking glove box lock is best, no travel time for locksmith. Note DO NOT use a locksmith that thinks he needs to destroy the lock bezel to open a glove box lock. Code is on inner glove box cylinder, so it has to come apart. It can be opened by picking very easy. If you know the secret handshake. ![]() Frank DuVal Fredericksburg, VA Re: How to remove ignition switch? Posted by:

() Date: January 09, 2019 03:47AM With replacement blanks, B10 and B11 are the same profile. Cars earlier than '65 use one key for all locks. Two keys are used on '65-up. I do have locks available and can cut keys from the code or original keys. -Mark Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum. |
