I really do not think it will be necessary with the meth injection. I dont really want to complicate the plumbing if necessary. I actually have a subie intercooler that I could use but others have reported that having it in the engine bay is not an advantage and heat soaks quickly.

The big difference between an intercooler and water/alcohol injection is that
you can keep your charge temps lower for longer, in the sense that you don't have to worry about keeping the tank full. In practice, on a street car, it doesn't matter, except that with water injection, you get excellent I/C effect
and it fits in a shoe box, and with most I/C's they take up a lot more room in the engine compartment to get the same effect, and they dump heat into the fan.
Make one thing better and one thing worse! Also, while an I/C only reduces the charge temps, a well done water/methanol injection system both cools the charge down, and raises the octane rating and helps keep the piston and valves clean!
One Dyno test done on an EFI Turbo Corvair that was done recently they initially had an I/C and water/methanol injection on it and found that the water/injection was working so well that the I/C was overkill, and they were thinking of taking the I/C off.

Made a new shorter metered orifice tube.



Also welded ports for boost return valve, crankcase vapor return and methanol injection to air filter mount.



Also the intake manifold welding is done with second methanol injection port.



Soon it will get power coated when I am confident I am done welding.

And yes that is one be honking air filter, it might be a bit overkill but at least it won't collapse under boost. I already had it and can put a smaller one on in the future.

Nice work Tom, my only suggestion is getting rid of that muffler. It really isn’t loud without it, even at idle, and is very quiet under boost. You’ll be glad you took it off.

Let us know when you want to start fabricating for us mere mortals.

Beauty is in the eyes or ears of the beholder. My wife is normally really supportive of my car hobby, but that doesn't include running without a muffler. Tried that for a while, she said the damn thing shakes the whole house when you start it up. Its pi****g of the neighbors, FIX IT.

After I do rebuilds I use a quiet muffler so I can hear any noises that shouldn't be there.

My wife likes my '82 Malibu a lot. Says so every time we go somewhere in it and it has a 3" Flow Master that is too loud for me. It sets off car alarms.

Just make sure that the tailpipe goes out the same as with a muffler, otherwise it resonatas/reverberates/echoes in the well of the quarter panel. Another added plus.....I could never hear the turbo whistle with the muffler on, took it off and voila, instant and audible turbo whistle.

2 steps forward, 3 steps back!

Got the oil feed to the turbo run and the hoses for the pcv system in place. Also the GoVair pulley installed.



Thought I was all set with the intake, then it hit me!!!!



I don't have enough room in the EM, it would fit in the LM. Because of the vents in the hood I am an inch too high.

AWWWW Crap!

The new setup enters from the front and the area where it was located, will house the methanol injector.

OK, things are now painted and committed to this design.



Next are the fuel lines, I've decided to use a maserati biturbo carbed engine fuel pressure regulator. Dave Binnie had used it in previous builds with good results.

I upsized my return line from stock when doing the car so I should be in good shape for the amount of fuel that will be returned to the tank with a 30 psi pump. It will be regulated down to 5 psi with no boost and it increases pressure proportional to the amount of boost to keep the fuel happy.

First off, the lines are NOT COPPER! They are cupronickel fine for fuel..

I mounted the fuel regulator at the back left, partly hidden behind the air filter, but the regulator screw still accessible.

What kind of a range in the way of pressure are you anticipating to run at?

From my old days experience, the 140 "X" intake could be problematic to keep sealed, as the little "J" bolts which hold them to the carbs aren't the strongest, and the attachment holes on the carbs can become distorted, and they can leak a bit under vacuum even when in good shape. And, of course only one hook per carb. Not exactly a secure attachment.

Otherwise, I look at your latest photos and Grin.... Pretty Cool!

That sounds like a good plan! although "somehow" I get this feeling that you will end up at 18! you haven't lived yet until you run the boost up to at LEAST 18!!!! tee hee hee! As long as you keep the detonation monsters killed and the heads cool, you aren't hurting anything taking it that high
