Need picture of 1967 Stinger Fisher Body tag
Posted by: ral1963 ()
Date: November 24, 2018 08:39PM

Well in all my photos and documentation of various Stinger stuff, I realized I don't have a decent image of one of the 25 COPO 1967 Stinger Fisher Body tags.

If someone has one they are willing to share, could you please email me the highest resolution image you have. My email is in my signature line.

I have quite a few of the 66's but realized that I don't have a clear one of a 67 tag, just an engine shot with the tag "in" the image but too small to use.

I sold YS-115 to Ken Holm years ago or I could take a pic of that tag. I'll see if I can get him to send me a pic.

Here is a 66 Fisher Trim Tag from a COPO Stinger and 67 Fisher Trim Tag from a COPO Stinger.

I'll be posting a draft of a write up I am doing regarding the 66 & 67 COPO Stingers separately.

In another thread on the COPO Stinger body tag Rick wrote:

"ACC line should only be completely BLANK, nothing else should be stamped on the ACC line of the Fisher Tag. "

While I have little to back it up, I've had the notion that my '66 Sprint was ordered and built at Fitch's facility because of its "no option" body tag. Rick, have you seen another Fitch Sprint tag for a "factory" built Sprint?

Any idea why the WRN body number on my late-January '66 01E car is about 1000 digits lower than your posted Early December '65 12A car?

Rick’s picture is of a ‘66 Corsa coupe (Stinger) tag. Your car is a ‘66 Corsa vert (Sprint). They made less convertibles and your car was counted as a different body type versus the previously posted pic.

Gotcha, Mike. Separate body number sequences for coupes and convertibles. Thanks!

Now about that blank accessory line...

You may be on to something Craig, although I only have suspicions and lack of evidence, rather than hard proof.
I have a car that was supposedly special ordered as well. Blank ACC line ‘66 Corsa coupe that was held by the ordering dealer for 3 years until the parts manager was able to pry it off of them. The car was modified in 1971 to include ‘67 Deluxe belts so I can’t tell if it was originally a deluxe belt car. It does have HD suspension and a quick steering box. The windows are not tinted and the antenna is a front mount. I’m not sure what would have been a COPO about it and I can’t find any hard evidence that there were any Fisher body options on it. The front seats were swapped out to a different color when I got the car and the original rear did not have a build sheet in it.
I’d say your car has the possibility of being a special order as well, given it’s history and modifications at the Fitch shop, but I can’t point to a Chevrolet document that says,”Here’s how to special order a hot rod Corvair”.

A blank ACC line is significant, it tells you one of two things, either the car has all standard options and no additional options that required a special action that required an indicator on the Fisher Tag or it was a special order order.

I have tags with, no codes, 1 or 2 codes, and some with nearly every code combo possible.

Remember: 1966 was the model year that many former Fisher Body coded options became Standard Equipment. 1965 is the year you'll see "fully loaded" plate codes in the iast line.
For example: the B70 Padded Dash - just under half of 1965 Corvairs had this, but all 1966 and later it was standard equipment.
My 12C 1966 Corsa has all of the same Chevrolet options as a Stinger: N44 Quick Steering, F41 HD Suspension*3.11% M20 4 speed transmission*26.66% G81 Positraction*6.84%.
It does not have the Dual circuit Master cylinder, but it has the engine upgrade: L87 Turbo-Charged*1.88% It also has N36 Telescoping Steering column*2.17% (It has the standard tele-wheel instead of the tele-sport wheel which is *0.08% - the *x.xx% after each above is for 1966 total Corvair production)
So Mine has only the 4O code in it's Fisher Body ID plate.
Oh, and it was built in LOS Angeles (Van Nuys)

Here is my 1965 LOS Angeles built Corsa Turbo Coupe:

On this Corsa the E = All tinted glass, 2L = 4 speed and the 3C = Padded Dash. The same Corvair built in 1966 would have only E 4O on it's Fisher ID Plate

Craig, without any other information...it would be hard to confirm if your car had been a special order.

Does it have any of the "normal" Fisher Body tag accessories that would normally be on the tag

(and can you 100% confirm they came on the car and were not added later?)

First Group (no numeric indicator)
• E = RPO A01 Tinted Glass (Soft Ray glass in all windows)
• D = RPO C06 Power Top (Manual top standard, no indicator)
• W = RPO A02 Tinted Windshield only

2 = Second Group
• H = RPO C48 Heater delete
• S = RPO U73 Rear ant.
• T = RPO U75 Power Rear antenna
3 = Third Group

4 = Fourth Group
• O = RPO L87 Turbo engine
• F = Remote outside mirror / updated CC group (lighting grp, door guards)

5 = Fifth Group
• O = RPO A48 Seatbelt Delete ( Export only)
• Y = RPO A39 Custom Deluxe Front* & Rear Seatbelts (Stainless Steel Push-button Buckles)
• Z = RPO A85 Custom Deluxe Front Shoulder Belt (Stainless Steel Push-button Buckles)**
* Front belts only would have retractors installed

The following listed is Standard on the Corsa Convertible...
** Front bucket and Rear Vinyl Bench Seats
with colour keyed twist carpeting, dual sunvisors,
cigarette lighter, front door arm rests,
lockable glove box, coathooks, interior light,
dual parallel-action two speed electric windshield
wipers, padded dash, back up lights, outside rear
view mirror, dual front and rear seat belts
chrome shifter box, speedometer w/ trip odometer
tachometer, manifold pressure and cylinder head
temperature gauges, electric clock
** Turbo-air 140 HP 164c.i.

I looked through my collection of 66 WRN Fisher tags and I have close to a dozen of tags with nothing on the ACC line, over half of them are Corsa or Monza tags, the rest 500's. I was going to post the the Corsa and Monza tags but the image server still appears to be down.

I'll post them once it comes back up. I presume one of the tags I have is from your car but I two Corsa verts with 01E date codes...

Craig replies: No there are no options which would normally be on the tag except for power top, which I installed back in the day. Originally it had a manual top.

Factory options include F41, U63, V32 (HDS, AM radio, Rear bumper guards) but none of these were tag options.
